(Clearwisdom.net June 7, 2003) For over a year I have been working as a substitute teacher in a high school that has many problems with the students. I have had the opportunity to work with almost all of the classes and teach all kinds of subjects. I have also got to know many of the teachers. From the beginning I told them that I practised something called Falun Gong. I let them know what Falun Gong is and detailed the severity of the persecution in China and how the regime first encouraged people to practise Falun Gong but later began persecuting practitioners to death. I also talked about Falun Gong and how it emphasises good behaviour and a high moral standard.
Once in a Physical Education class, I told them about Falun Gong and the students no longer wanted to play games. Instead they wanted to learn more about Falun Gong and learn the exercises. I explained some principles regarding the exercises and they in turn had many questions, which I systematically answered. We talked about how one can behave as a good person in one's everyday life, by living according to Truth, Compassion, Forbearance, the principles of Falun Gong.
Later I had to teach a cultural studies class on society. I told them about China's history and culture and how freedom of expression and belief differs greatly between different countries. The students stayed after class to ask more questions. One assistant teacher, who was accompanying me, told me that it was the most interesting class she had ever attended.
By now everyone knows about my practising Falun Gong and more often that not, students or teachers stop me in the hall and asks me to tell them about Falun Gong and to teach them the exercises.
