Ms. Zhao Dewen was a 50-year-old Dafa practitioner from the Beizhen District in Tianjin City. She was illegally arrested by the police at her home in early 2001 and sentenced to one year of forced labor and brainwashing at the Banqiao Female Labor Camp. In 2002, 29-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wu Jingxia was tortured to death by public security police of China. Jingxia was in excellent health due to the marvelous effects of practicing Falun Gong. She started practicing after hearing about its healing abilities, because she had been sickly since childhood. After practicing for a period of time she was free from all illnesses, and Jingxia developed a firm belief in Master and Dafa.

Around 8 p.m. on April 12, 2002, thirteen Falun Dafa practitioners who were having a group study at Mr. Zhang Yalin's home in Dongshan Village, Liucheng Township, were abducted. Three-dozen policemen from Chaoyang County Public Security Bureau came in three police vehicles and surrounded the house. They kicked and punched the practitioners, and handcuffed them as they were rounded up.
