In order to bring Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Fuzhen to the Jiaozuo City Brainwashing Center, three vehicles and more than 10 people surrounded her family's home for two days and two nights. Eventually they broke through a metal window, climbed into her house, and abducted her from her bedroom.
Practitioner Bi Shumin was violently seized by over 10 policemen, who blocked the exit of the building in which she lived. She was taken to the Jiaozuo City Brainwashing Center.
In the Jiaozuo Brainwashing Center, practitioner Ms. Wang Guihua was tortured so severely that she was unable to walk on her own. Ms. Liu Fuzhen tried to clarify the truth to a policeman at the center. For this she was locked in a confinement cell and then assigned to clean bathrooms as punishment.
A practitioner's daughter went to visit her parent in the Jiaozuo Center. A supervising police officer forcibly pushed and dragged her outside of the center, causing her to lose one of her shoes in the process.
On her 6th day in this brainwashing center, one practitioner suffered a mental collapse because of the unbearable torture she experienced.
The police in Jiaozuo Center have tortured Falun Gong practitioners using various vicious means. Cui Xiaobai, the head of the "610 Office"* of Jiaozuo City, visits this center every day. Each day he assigns a theme for the brainwashing center staff to use when defaming Falun Gong and Teacher Li.
Staff at the Jiaozuo Center have extorted a lot of money from the practitioners. Ms. Liu Fuzhen was fined 3,000 Yuan** in September 2002. The other practitioners were fined 2,000 Yuan each.
* The"610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
*Yuan is the Chinese currency. The average monthly salary of an urban worker in China is 500 Yuan.
