Facts of the persecution

Tortures used at Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison

The guards at Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison detain Falun Gong practitioners in solitary confinement cells, beat them mercilessly and torture them with "Tiger Bench." (See illustration at .) They also shock the practitioners with electric batons, leave them outside in the freezing cold, hack off their hair, force-feed them with thick plastic tubes, force them to squat, hang them up with their hands cuffed, etc. All of the practitioners in Division 5 of the prison are covered with wounds and scars. Practitioner Yan Shufen has a hole on her right shoulder from torture; the muscles on practitioner Dong Yazhen's leg atrophied after torture, and she now walks with a pronounced limp; practitioner Zhu Xiumin lost the hearing in her left ear from savage beatings; practitioner Ma Aiqiao has a torture-induced head injury, and the blood from her wound soaked the ground beneath her; Practitioner Zhang Shuzhe was covered with bruises and scars.

Mental and Physical Torment at Dalian Petrochemical Corporation

Since the persecution began on July 20, 1999, Li Tingxu, the head of Security at Dalian Petrochemical Corporation, has arranged for practitioners who work at the corporation to be tailed, monitored and staked out. He posted financial rewards for reporting Falun Gong practitioners. He also sent some practitioners to prisons, forced labor camps and drug rehabilitation centers, where they have been horribly tortured. He forced the practitioners to watch the slanderous videos and personally attacked the practitioners.

Officials in Jiyang County, Shandong Province, are still persecuting Falun Gong

Since July 20, 1999, certain officials from the Jiyang County government in Shandong Province have closely followed Jiang's regime in persecuting Falun Gong. In 2000 and 2001, they abducted practitioners Yang Yuhua, Wu Shandong, Zhang Youzhong, Fu Shaoshan and another male practitioner and sentenced them to three years of forced labor. In July 2004, they sentenced practitioner Xu Yanping, a resident of Jiyang County, to one year in prison. They also ransacked the practitioners' homes and took their personal belongings. They fired practitioner Wu Shandong from his job and held his ID at the Renfeng Police Station for nearly one year. Wu Shandong and his wife were forced to divorce in late 2003 due to tremendous pressure. In late 2003, Wu Shandong left the labor camp with the power of his righteous thoughts but was forced into homelessness. His father suffered a heart attack after the perpetrators harassed him at home repeatedly.
