Facts of the Persecution
Since July 20 1999, Falun Dafa practitioner Yang Feng, an instructor at the Shandong School of Information Engineering, has been subjected to various manners of persecution, including house arrest, surveillance, dismissal from work, and brainwashing. His family was also affected. The Weifang City "610 Office"[an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] abducted his mother, who is not a practitioner, forcing her into a brainwashing session. After repeated mental torture, she has now become pale, skinny, and mentally unstable. The "610 Office" even forced Yang's wife to divorce him, and her employer to suspend her from work.
Guards at the Wuyuan County Forced Labor Camp, located in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, brutally beat up Falun Dafa practitioners. In February 2002, they shocked Ms. Yang Fengyu with electric batons and forced her to remain standing for five consecutive days and nights. In August and September 2002, guards poured water onto a cement floor and forced her to sleep on it. Feng Yunsheng, a committee member of the Drug Addicts Department, used a steel brush to strike one of Ms. Yang's legs repeatedly, causing it to go numb, bruise and swell up. Feng also poked Ms. Yang's ribs with the sharp end of the brush.
Older and weaker practitioners were lifted up and shaken like yo-yos until they lost feeling in some parts of their bodies. Feng went so far as to jabbing his thumb into a practitioner's mouth and swirling it around. They officials also threw cigarette butts at the practitioners and puffed smoke in their faces. An inmate named Wang Genhu used a cigarette to burn a practitioner's back. Practitioner Mr. Ma Yingju was forced to stand for a month straight until he crumbled to the floor and could not get up. In December 2003, the authorities started to organize brainwashing sessions. Mr. Gui Zhiyu suffered serious injuries and despite this, his term was extended for three months past his expected release date.
My husband and I are retired, having previously worked at Zhonghai Petroleum, Yanjiao Base. My husband Guo Yaolin went to Beijing on December 22, 2000 to validate Falun Dafa. He was arrested, and his employer fined him 5,000 yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China.], and sent him to be jailed in the Yanjiao Development Zone. During my husband's detention, he was verbally abused and beaten up. The authorities took our identification papers and cut off our home phone line. In March 2001, my husband was again taken to the brainwashing center at the Yanjiao Development Zone. He was only released after the practitioners there went on a hunger strike. On December 14, 2001, the Head of Security Section of our company went to our home to abduct him yet again. During the 16th Communist Party Congress, the authorities put us under surveillance and followed us everywhere. We lost our freedom.
On February 2, 2004, in Quan Village, Yuanshi County, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, about 20 thugs forced their way into Zhang Qingxi's home. They ransacked it, searching inside and out, and took away a laptop worth 10,000 yuan, as well as a printer and all the money present. In total they confiscated about 20,000 yuan worth of cash and valuables.
