Facts of the Persecution
Wang Mingjiang, a Dafa practitioner from Jiaozhou City, Shandong Province, has been forced to become homeless and go from place to place over the past four years because he persisted in practicing Falun Gong. On February 28, Wang was recognized by a police officer, and was then abducted and taken to the Nanguan Police Station. During his detainment Wang was beaten and tortured repeatedly, and was then forced to provide information about other practitioners and locations used for producing and distributing materials that clarify he truth about Falun Dafa. The police were able to find out information regarding the current Falun Gong situation from monitoring and tapping Dafa practitioners' phones. Currently the arrested practitioners are being tortured in a secret prison in Zhangjiatun, where screams of pain can be heard night and day. At about 8:00 p.m. on February 20, 2004 practitioners Hao Ying and Li Junying, from Weifang City, Shandong Province, were abducted, and their belongings from their homes were confiscated. On March 5 they were sent to an unknown place in Weifang to be more intensively persecuted. At about 8:00 a.m. on March 13, 2004 Han Meixia, a retired worker from a pressure container factory, was telling people the facts about the persecution against Falun Gong near the Jiujiu Business District in Hanting District. Han was abducted by plain-clothes police and taken to the Hanting District Chengchu Police Station in a police car. That afternoon, Han was sent to the Hanting District Detention Center. The same morning Han was arrested, the Chengchu Police Station sent Officer Zhang with a few others to Han's house to confiscate his belongings. They took his television, VCD player, and the stereo. Han has not yet been released.
On February 6, 2004 Ding Xingqiao, an elementary school teacher from Yunmong County, Hubei Province, was arrested and detained in the county police station. Ding was reported to the police because he gave the students Falun Gong New Year's cards. In protest of the illegal arrest, Ding went on a hunger strike for twenty days. During that time, the county detention center bribed two doctors from a Chinese hospital to force-feed Ding three times. At 5:00 p.m. on March 10, Ding was placed on oxygen and was sent to the emergency room. On the 11th, Ding was sent home on probation. At 8:20 a.m. on March 15, Zhang Liming, Chen Fuqing, Mao Hongbo, and Yu Meng from the county National Security abducted Ding and put him in their police car. This arrest was led by the Chief of the county "610 Office"(1) Guan Xiangping. Ding was taken to the Wuhan Brainwashing Center.
Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Xihua, from Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province, benefited both physically and mentally from the practice. Zhang's illnesses such as neurological pain, arthritis, kidney stones, and bleeding of the uterus disappeared after she started the practice. On December 5, 2001 Zhang and her husband went to Beijing to appeal for a stop to the persecution of Falun Gong, and were subsequently detained for twenty days. They were dismissed from the Communist Party, their salaries were cut, and their end-of-year bonus was taken away. They were illegally fined 6,000 Yuan (2) by the "610 Office" and the police station. On February 7, 2002 Zhang was abducted and her belongings were confiscated. After she was released, she was frequently arrested and her home searched. Eventually she was forced to become homeless to avoid being persecuted. Her husband Sun Shaomin is also a practitioner. He was abducted and taken to a police station because he distributed Dafa materials. He was sent to the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City to be reformed through forced labor. He was sent home at the end of September 2002 after having held a three-month-long hunger strike in the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp. He was abducted again on January 27, 2003 and was brutally tortured and sentenced to ten years in prison. He is now being detained in Hulan Prison. Ms. Hu Yulin, a practitioner from the Wangjiaweizi area of Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, has been suffering both mentally and financially due to the persecution inflicted on her by her employer over the past few years. She used to be a kindergarten teacher, but was forced to become a janitor because she practiced Falun Gong. Her monthly wage dropped from 1,000 Yuan to 200 Yuan. Over the past few years her employer has withheld tens of thousands of Yuan from her wages and bonuses. She was switched to a new workplace, the Daqing Oilfield Administration Bureau Water Supply Company, and still only received just enough to live. At the end of 2002 this company sent her to a brainwashing class that slanders Falun Gong through propaganda and tries to stop those who practice Falun Gong from carrying on. Under the tremendous pressure, she had to leave home to avoid further persecution.
On March 12, 2004 the Antu County Police Station in Yanbian City, Jilin Province started a massive search and arrest at around 6:30 p.m. against Falun Gong practitioners who were documented on their list. Practitioners Gao Zhimin and Yang Zhicheng were abducted that night. Practitioner Liu Meijun was abducted the next day and is now been detained in the Antu County Police Station.
On the night of February 26, 2004 the Shijiazhuang "610 Office," together with some police officers, surrounded Ms. Jiao Yanqiao's home with many police cars parked outside. On February 27 Jiao's son was leaving for school in the morning, when as soon as he opened the door, the police rushed into the house. The police first took Zheng Ping (a practitioner who is over 60 years old) to the police car, and then took over the house for half an hour. After they arrested Jiao, an officer from the Kuaidi Police Station stayed in the house to wait for the other family members to return. That morning, Jiao's mother stopped by the house and was arrested and detained for a day.
On May 12, 2000 Ms. Zhang Huiqing, a 67-year-old retired doctor, was illegally taken to the Yudong Police Station in Shijiazhuang City. While she was being detained, police officer Hao Zhiwen forced her to eat rat poison, and officer Li Yulai kicked, slapped, and humiliated her. These two police officers beat and pushed Zhang until she fell over onto a bed. Ms. Fan Xiuwen, a retired worker from a furnace accessory factory in Shijiazhuang, was slapped by Hao until her mouth bled. Hao also grabbed Fan's hair and smacked her head, deprived her of sleep, and even tried to freeze her in the yard by taking away her insulated jacket and pouring cold water on her feet. Fan was later sent to a mental hospital, where she was persecuted for more than a month.
On February 4, 2004 officers from the Xinmatou Town Police Station in Qiu County, Hebei Province, broke into Falun Dafa practitioners Zhai Limin and Zhang Yincheng's houses in Xiaoguotou Village to arrest them. The police confiscated their property and took Dafa books and materials that clarified the truth. Their families were terrorized from the arrest. Six days later, the police blackmailed Zhang's family for 5,000 Yuan and released Zhang. Zhai's current situation is unknown. A practitioner from Qiucheng Town in Qiu County was also arrested during the New Year's while distributing truth-clarifying materials. This practitioner's family was blackmailed out of thousands of Yuan.
(1) "610 Office": an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
(2) Yuan: Chinese currency, 500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China.
