Facts of the Persecution
From March to early April of 2004, police officers from the National Security Detachment and the Renhe Public Security Bureau Branch of the Panzhihua City Public Security Bureau abducted over twenty Falun Dafa practitioners. The practitioners included Liu Qinghua, Li Zhenshu, Xu Langzhou, Ms. Chen and others. In addition, they searched the homes of more than ten Dafa practitioners in Hongge Township.
My wife Li Yingxin is a Dafa practitioner. When she applied for an identification card at the local police station, the police officers arrested her and sent her to a detention center simply because she practices Falun Dafa. From June 24, 2003 to present, we have not been allowed to visit her. We finally learned that she has been sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp. When one of our family members visited her at the camp, my wife was found to have injuries from electric shock batons and from being bound with rope. We really worry about her safety and health.
Dafa practitioner Mr. Shi Mengchang was sentenced to two years of forced labor after he went to Tiananmen Square to appeal for Falun Dafa. He was sent to Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp, where police officers beat him until his entire body was injured, and then he was forced to work. After the two-year term of his sentence was completed, he was released. But not long after, Mr. Shi was abducted again. He went on a hunger strike to protest but was brutally force-fed, which damaged his trachea and esophagus. After Mr. Shi had been on a hunger strike for 18 days and while he was extremely weak, he was sentenced to three years of forced labor and sent to the Suihua Forced Labor Camp. Shi Mengchang has been incarcerated in the labor camp for over four and a half years, leaving his 12-year-old child without a father. His elder brother, younger brother and sister were all sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. From 1999 until now, the Qixing Farm where Mr. Shi used to work has not paid any unemployment compensation to Shi Mengchang and his wife. Meanwhile, the forced labor camp has extorted over 20,000 yuan (1) from Mr. Shi's family.
Mr. Zhang Zhaohua is 53 years old and lives in the Yitulihe Township. He has persisted in practicing Falun Dafa and has written letters to state leaders to expose the facts of the persecution that he has suffered. Later, Mr. Zhang was sentenced to seven years in prison. Since February 18, 2004, Mr. Zhang has been detained in a small cell (2) inside Beian Prison in Group 1 of the Fourth Brigade. The police officers hung him up by the handcuffs and allowed him only a very small amount of food each day.
Dafa practitioners Li Zhenying, Liu Guoying, Yang Guozheng, and Xu Hui went to the Anwen Township market on March 22 and clarified the truth about Falun Dafa to the people there. However, they were arrested by police officers from the Anwen Township Police Station. They are currently detained at the old Detention Center of Qijiang County. On April 3, 2004, Dafa practitioners Chen Fengming, He Derong, Chen Yanxiu, and Lei Zhihua were arrested. The next day they were sent to the Qijiang Development Zone Detention Center.
My name is Li Yujun, and I am a 51-year-old woman. I am an employee of the Longkou City Seed Development Farm. Since July 20, 1999, the persecution of Falun Gong led by Jiang has wreaked havoc on China as a country. Because I persisted in practicing Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance, the principles of Falun Gong, I have been arrested, beaten up, detained, and sent to a forced labor camp and prison. I have suffered greatly both physically and mentally. My family members have also suffered a lot because of the persecution. They have been terrorized by the authorities constantly.
Dafa practitioner Mr. Xu Debao, in his 50s, is a retiree of West Paper Mill of Longkou City. Before he started practicing Falun Dafa, Mr. Xu had advanced stage stomach cancer, but he was cured through practicing Dafa. In 2001, Mr. Xu was deceived into going to a brainwashing session, where he was illegally detained for over two months. He suffered greatly both mentally and physically. On November 10, 2003, police officers from the Longkou City Public Security Bureau abducted Mr. Xu and took him to a detention center. He has still not been released.
(1) Yuan: 500 yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China.
(2) Small cell: The detainee is locked up in a very small cell individually. The guards handcuff practitioners in a fixed position, in which the practitioners can neither move nor lie down. The small cell is very damp and no sunshine comes in. Detainees have to urinate and defecate in the cell. Only half of a regular meal is served to detainees locked up in a small cell during the daytime. The stench in the small cell is so bad that it is difficult to breathe.
