Facts of the Persecution
My name is Gao Yu. I was the accountant at the Sihuan Support Plant of the China, No.1 Vehicle Manufacturing Company. My family is being persecuted for practicing Falun Dafa. My younger brother, Gao Xiaodong, has been detained and sent to the Xinglongshan Brainwashing Center twice. He went on a hunger strike without water and then managed to walk out of the brainwashing center unnoticed. My husband and I were also detained and sent to labor camps, because we went to Beijing to appeal. In March 2002, in order to avoid being illegally arrested, we had to leave our home and had no means of support.
Falun Dafa practitioner, Mr. Liu Yadong from Wuqing District, Tianjin City was detained twice after July 20, 1999. He was beaten and shocked with an electric baton. Thereafter, he was sentenced to 18 months in the Jianxin Labor Camp in Hexi District, Tianjin City. He was brutally tortured when he was shocked by 8 policemen using electric batons at the same time. This severely burned his back. Another practitioner, Ms. Liu Shuping, was detained three times after July 20, 1999. She was sentenced to a labor camp for 1 year in December 2000 and received an extended term for an additional year. On December 5, 2002, she was sent to the "Legal Education School" to go through the brainwashing program. Later, she was sentenced for another 3 years in the Banqiao Women's Labor Camp. Her husband, Mr. Zhang Guangfu, is also a Falun Dafa practitioner. Because he is firmly resolute in his faith, he was detained 4 times. In January 2001, he was beaten by police at the Huanghuadian Substation and thrown from the second story, resulting in a fractured hip. After his release in August 2002, he had to leave his home in order to avoid being illegally arrested.
Further Criminal Actions by Police
On October 15, 2002, Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Tang Liwen from Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous District, was abducted and detained in the Hexi Detention Center for 7 months. During that time, Director Wang Li (male) beat her and also grabbed her hair and threw her head against the wall. He ordered her to be tied to the Dead Man's Bed (1) for 9 days. She still has headaches, dizziness and must lie down from time to time. Policewoman, Wu Yun, severely kicked her in the abdomen, which caused extensive bruising that lasted for over a month.
Jin City Police Chief, Liu Chunyang (male), and Political Security Office personnel, Zhou Rending (male), Luo Peijie (male), Lei Minzhu (male), Shen Hongjiu (male) and Chen Xiaolan (female) persecute Falun Dafa practitioners in Hunan Province. Some of their recent illegal activities are itemized below:
On February 25, 2004, they broke into the home of Falun Dafa practitioners, Ms. Hu Xiaojun and her sister, Ms.Hu Huiling. They ransacked their home, then beat and arrested them. On the same day, police arrested Xiang Yang (gender unknown). He passed out after they forced a knitting needle through his nose and mouth, which caused severe bleeding.
On February 27, 2004, police ransacked the home of practitioners Mr. Zhang Yunwu and Ms. Liu Birong and arrested them.
On February 29, 2004, police arrested and beat practitioners, Ms. Xiang Qingzhen and Ms. Liu Qingxiu.
On April 8, 2004, 6 out of the above 7 practitioners were sentenced secretly, without due process, to labor camps. The doctor first refused to accept Ms. Hu Huiling, because she failed the physical exam. However, the police were able to "persuade" the doctor to approve her for admission into the Baimalong Labor Camp in Changsha City, Hunan Province.
(1) "Dead Man's Bed" The limbs of the practitioner are stretched out and tied to the four corners of an ice-cold metal bed. The victim is tied so tightly that he cannot move at all and is not allowed to get up to eat, drink or go to the bathroom. This brutal treatment can last for more than 12 days and causes severe mental and physical trauma.
