(Clearwisdom.net) At the beginning of 2004, Jiang Zemin launched an "Anti-Falun Gong Campaign" in the education system nationwide defaming and slandering Falun Gong. The plan was announced by his collaborator, Chen Zhili, the Minister of Education. This is another round of extending the persecution to younger students similar to the "Million Signature Campaign" carried out in China's schools in 2001.

The Great Cultural Revolution was not that long ago. At that time, politicians involved the schools in the political movement. Students lost their peaceful study atmosphere, and the teachers lost their teaching posts. People have not forgotten the disaster the Great Cultural Revolution brought to the entire nation of China, especially the teachers and students themselves. Similarly, Jiang's regime has instigated hatred and harmed the young generation in persecuting Falun Gong, bringing more harm to the entire nation.

3. Implementation of the Policy that Every One Has to Denounce Falun Gong in Chinese Universities, Causing Intellectuals to Suffer from Severe Persecution

In the movement of persecuting Falun Gong, Jiang's regime had various brainwashing units set up at all levels of the government nationwide so as to completely control peoples' minds. These brainwashing units brainwash and "transform" people who believe in

"Truth-Compassion-Forbearance" through various methods of torture.

From what the head of the "610 Office" (1) in Wuhan City said, one can get a general idea of the inside story of brainwashing Falun Gong practitioners. The head of the Wuhan "610 Office"said, "We have many methods. If one refuses coercion, we will deprive him of sleep for several days in succession, and force him to stand facing the wall. If he still refuses to be transformed, we will handcuff him and hang him up. In order to test whether those who have written Disassociation Statements (2) are truly transformed, we will order them to step on their Teacher's name and picture placed on the ground. If they do not step on it, it means that they are not truly transformed. We will continue with the torture. In order to increase the success rate of transformation, we make them do homework to expose and report on other practitioners and curse their Teacher. Finally, we coerce them to transform other practitioners."

This kind of approach is used in institutions of higher learning and the educational system at large.

"610 Office" in Education Department of Beijing Forces Practitioner Faculty Members in All Universities to Attend Brainwashing Sessions

There is a saying, "The whole country looks at Beijing, and Beijing looks to the universities." The universities in Beijing play an important role in the whole nation. Jiang's regime set up the "610 Office" in the Education Department of Beijing to persecute Falun Gong. Through the party secretaries in the party committee of each university, the "610 Office" coerces each university to force its faculty members and students who practice Falun Gong to give up their belief. Each university is required to report those who refuse to give up their practice, and get them to attend the notorious "Beijing Law Education Center" in Tuanhe for brainwashing. In addition, a fee of 5,000 yuan (3) must be submitted for each.

The "610 Office" orders the schools to send their own personnel to closely monitor Falun Gong practitioners one on one, 24 hours a day. They do not allow practitioners to study the teachings of Falun Dafa or practice the exercises, nor do they permit practitioners to make phone calls. They have to report to the "610 Office" each day. In addition, the security guards violently 'escort' practitioners from their barracks to the brainwashing unit in Tuanhe each morning and back again in the evening. Each evening, the schools must assign personnel to monitor practitioners. There are also security guards on night duty to prevent the practitioners from escaping. There are guards who patrol inside and outside the building.

"Beijing Law Education Center" in Tuanhe is a brainwashing center, using the most forceful methods to "handle" Falun Gong practitioners. They force them to watch videos and read books defaming Falun Gong. Those insisting on their belief after repeated brainwashing are sent to forced labor camps. The "610 Office" of the Education Department in Beijing has been responsible for implementing Jiang Zemin's personal crusade of persecuting Falun Gong since the beginning.

The Party Committee at Tsinghua University Cruelly Pushes the Students into Prison

Tsinghua is a university with 100 years of history. It was a former place of solace. Some leaders in the Party Committee, however, followed Jiang's regime and participated in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Since July 20, 1999, Tsinghua University has threatened, deceived, and forced its students to leave the university by putting them under house arrest, depriving them of work, and using other coercive methods to force the students and faculty members to give up practicing Falun Gong. Many students were sent to forced labor camps and prisons. The authorities of the university severely jeopardized the lives of Falun Gong practitioners and brought shame to the reputation of the university.

According to a Minghui report on May 10, 2004, Chaoyang District People's Court in Beijing City sentenced Dafa practitioners Chu Tong and Wang Weiyu from Tsinghua University to imprisonment. Chu Tong was sentenced to 11 years and Wang Weiyu to 8 years.

Chu Tong and Wang Weiyu from Tsinghua University were secretly abducted by National Security Agents in August 2002. Based on the information available, Ms. Chu and Mr. Wang were held in "Fengtai District Detention Center" and "Chaoyang District Detention Center," respectively. They suffered severe physical and mental torture in these places. On January 9, 2004, Chaoyang District People's Court in Beijing held a "trial" 16 months after their arrest. A report posted on Minghui before the trial exposed what was going on, so the court quickly changed the location the day before the trial so as to avoid scrutiny from the public. The court dared not announce the verdict until recently.

At least 16 Dafa practitioners from Tsinghua University were sentenced to imprisonment before the date of the scheduled trial.

Bai Rongchun (13 years), Yao Yue (12 years), Liu Zhimei (12 years), Meng Jun (10 years), Wang Xin (10 years), Dong Yanhong (5 years), Ma Yan (5 years), Yu Ping (4 years), Yu Jia (3 1/2 years), Liu Wenyu (3 years), Lin Yang (3 years), Li Yanfang (unknown), Li Chunyan (unknown), Huang Kui (unknown), and Jiang Yuxia (unknown).

In addition, one practitioner (Yuan Jiang) was persecuted to death. At least 18 were sentenced to forced labor. Many students and faculty members were forced to leave their studies and careers to undergo brainwashing in prison. There are many others who were forced to leave their homes to avoid arrest.

Shen Yingbai and Others from Beijing Forestry University were Abducted By the Police Department in Haiding District.

Minghui reported on October 11, 2003, that the detention center of Haiding District Police Department abducted five Falun Gong practitioners from Beijing Forestry University and searched their homes. The reason for their abduction was their practice of Falun Gong.

Dr. Shen Yingbai, male, 43 years old, is a professor of Beijing Forestry University and Dean of a university department. He is an excellent young academician and ranks top in publishing academic papers in the university. He was a volunteer assistant for the practice site in Beijing Forestry University. He was abducted and sent to a detention center for brainwashing many times.

Dr. Zhang Wenge, male, 34 years old, is an Associate Professor in China Agriculture University, an excellent young academician, a key researcher, and the volunteer assistant for the practice site in Forestry University. He was held in Beijing Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp twice.

Tang Fang, wife of Zhang Wenge, graduated from Political and Law University. She worked in a foreign investment company.

Zhou Xiangyuan, 32 years old, graduated from China Agriculture University and worked in a foreign investment company. She was illegally imprisoned in Beijing Female Prison for one year of forced labor reform.

Chongqing University Persecutes Faculty and Student Falun Gong Practitioners

Chongqing University is a prestigious school with a long history. However, during the Chinese dictator's brutal persecution against Falun Dafa, students and faculty members at Chongqing University who practice Falun Gong have suffered severe persecution. Prior to July 20, 1999, many professors, faculty members and students, including Ph.D candidates, were practicing Falun Dafa. They benefited physically and mentally from the practice. There were several practice sites inside the school. The academic and moral character of these students were extraordinary. The faculty practitioners were also performing their work diligently. After 1999, pressured by the "610 Office," the officials from Chongqing University forced these steadfast practitioners who went to Beijing to appeal to attend these brainwashing units. They illegally held the practitioners, forcing them to write "Guarantee Statements" (3) in addition to forcing them to watch propaganda materials and videotapes attacking and slandering Dafa. Most brainwashing units were secretly held at the Gele Mountain. During the brainwashing, the thugs made threats to the parents about expelling their children who were student practitioners. The parents who endured numerous hardships to send their children to college were worried about the termination of their academic careers, so they exerted pressure on their children who were practicing, thus, creating tremendous mental strain on the students. For graduating practitioners, the school threatened to suspend their diplomas. Some practitioners wrote "Guarantee Statements" to give up Falun Gong against their will after being threatened, intimidated, and deceived. They suffered both mentally and physically. Some practitioners were expelled, and forced to withdraw from the university. They were sent back to their hometowns. Others were illegally held and sent to forced labor camps for persisting in Falun Dafa.

Among those Falun Gong practitioners persecuted, many were undergraduate and graduate students such as Mr. Yang Chengbao, Mr. Lu Zhen, Mr. Wang Zangkun, Ms. Wang Lei, Ms. Wu Jie, Ms. Mi Xiaozheng, Mr. Mei Guinan, and Mr. Zhang Zhihu. There were also professors and associate professors.

Professors and teachers who persisted in practicing Dafa at Chongqing University were demoted and stripped of their Party membership. Some were even sent to labor camps. Professors who were illegally sent to forced labor include Mr. Zhang Yougao, Mr. Gu Jiushou, and Ms. Gao Zhongying.

Professor Zhang Yougao, 64, was a senior engineer and an optical electronics scientist. He was the group leader who worked on a scientific development project, the Three Gorges Dam. He was given an "Outstanding Worker" award several times. He was sent to the Baiheping Detention Center and brutally tortured for several months because he went to Beijing to appeal. He was subsequently abducted and sent to the Xishanping Labor Camp where he was tortured for one year. His persecution case was reported on Clearwisdom.net. After his term had expired, the labor camp authorities illegally extended it by six months. After he was released, the school officials sent him to a brainwashing unit held by the local government under instructions from the "610 Office." The police abducted him again. His home was ransacked, and he was held at the Chongqing University Police Station.

Mr. Gu Jiushou, 64, is an engineer at Chongqing University. He was illegally held and sent to forced labor because he went to Beijing to appeal. He was brutally tortured at the labor camp. Around May 9, 2003, police broke into Gu Jiushou's home, and abducted Gu and his wife Lei Xiaorong. They also ransacked the couple's home.

University Covered Up the News of the Crime

As May 13, World Falun Dafa Day was approaching, Dafa practitioners at the Chongqing University campus set off balloons with banners attached. The university authorities immediately sealed off all the exits to search for those responsible and arrested all those under suspicion. Twenty-eight year old Wei Xingyan, a third year graduate student pursuing a master's degree in high voltage power transmission was one of them. On the evening of May 13, the police took her to a room in the Baihelin Detention Center and ordered two female inmates to strip off all her clothes. Then a police officer came into the room and raped her in front of the two inmates. Wei Xingyan started a hunger strike in protest. After repeated force-feedings by the police, her trachea and esophagus were damaged, causing her to be unable to speak. She was on the verge of death.

On June 3, many people from overseas made constant calls to investigate about her after news spread quickly outside of China. Facing huge pressure, Tongzhan Department of the Party Committee in Chongqing University held a Party meeting. As the Party Secretary, Zhu Jialin ordered, "Strengthen the school stability, strengthen the Internet control, and be on guard about the rampant activities of Falun Gong." The 8 democratic parties sent their Committee Chairmen to participate in the meeting. More than 20 people, including personnel from Tongzhan Department, attended the meeting discussing how to handle Wei Xingyan's case.

After that, under the direction of Zhu Jialin, the university modified all the sensitive information, denying the existence of Wei Xingyan so as to cover up the facts and shift their responsibility. However, the overseas media immediately exposed their intent. The authorities at the university were immediately silenced and embarrassed. The website of the Electrical Engineering School was intentionally blocked for half a year in order to deceive the public.

After Wei Xingyan's case was exposed, all of her roommates in the dorm, including all the female students living in half of the building suddenly disappeared without a trace. The former dormitory is also empty. There are no longer any courses in her field of study. It is said that they were secretly controlled by the "610 Office" from other places.

On the morning of August 1, the "610 Office" in Sha District visited Chongqing University. A long white Iveco vehicle with a plate belonging to foreign company was used to monitor the communications in the university, arresting faculty members who spoke about the case. The vehicle was equipped with a complete set of advanced facilities monitoring and controlling both wire and wireless communications. On August 3, the Sha District "610 Office" arrested more than 10 Falun Gong practitioners on campus. All of them were faculty members at the university, and three of them were professors.

Information about the condition of Wei Xingyan has been completely blocked. Whether she is alive or dead is unknown.

A Student from the Chinese University of Science and Technology was Deprived Three Times of His Right to Enter into Graduate Programs Because He Persisted in His Belief

Minghui reported on April 26, 2004 that Wang Chuan, a graduate of the Modern Physics Department at the Chinese University of Science and Technology was excluded from entrance into a postgraduate program by authorities at the institute and his work unit on three separate occasions due to his refusal to renounce Falun Gong.

My name is Wang Chuan. I started studying in the Modern Physics Department at the Chinese University of Science and Technology in 1996. I have been practicing Falun Gong since August 1998. In September 1999, I went to Beijing to appeal along with a few fellow practitioners. The police stopped us at the Hefei Train Station and escorted us back to campus.

In 2000, our school administrators started recommending graduates for the Master's program. In light of students' average grades, I was to be admitted to the Master's program directly without taking the entrance exams. However, authorities at the institute stripped away my status as a qualified candidate. In 2001, when I tried to register for the entrance exams, the school rejected my application again due to my practice of Falun Gong. For the same reason, one of my classmates was also rejected.

In March 2002, I found a temporary job in the Physics and Mathematics Institute of the Chinese Science Academy in Wuhan City. I took the entrance exams for the upcoming Master's Degree program. My grade in the first round was above the qualifying criteria set by the province. The institute demanded a written statement from all candidates, including myself, in the second round regarding Falun Gong. I refused to defame Falun Gong as required by the authorities at

the institute, and they didn't admit me into the postgraduate program.

Both the Chinese University of Science and Technology and the Physics and Mathematics Institute are affiliated with the Chinese Science Academy. The policy that they have implemented against Falun Gong practitioners was directed by Jiang and his followers. I hope that the school officials in the education system will wake up quickly. I hope that they will stop forcing the students to defame Falun Gong, and stop helping Jiang to commit crimes against innocent people.

Jilin University Expelled Four Teachers Who Were Falun Gong Practitioners - Teacher Shen Janli Tortured to Death

According to the report on Minghui on March 5, 2004, Jilin University expelled four teachers who persisted in practicing Falun Gong with the excuse that they left their posts. Wang Yuejian (School of Mathematics), Feng Gan (School of Mechanical Science and Engineering), Meng Juanjuan (School of Philosophy and Sociology), and Liu Yong are the four teachers.

Prior to their expulsion, the local Police Department had tortured Ms. Shen Jianli, a teacher from the School of Mathematics, to death. Shen Jianli, 34 years of age, held a Master of Mathematics and was a teacher of the Mathematics Department in Nanling Campus, Jilin University. She was stripped of Party membership for refusing to give up Dafa. On March 2, 2001, the leaders of the university requested that she go to the university with her 4-year old daughter, sending them both to the brainwashing unit in Nanguan District. Shen Jianli's husband, Zheng Weidong, a teacher in Jilin Electronics and Information Technology College, is also a Falun Gong practitioner. Police abducted him for making truth-clarifying materials.

Falun Gong practitioner Zhao Bo, a teacher from the English Training Center, was persecuted to the brink of death. He suffered financial loss after the university cut off his salary with the excuse of him leaving his position. Zeng Lingwen, a professor in School of Physics, was held in a forced labor camp for several years without being released.

It is said that many Falun Gong practitioners were forced to leave their homes in order to avoid illegal arrest. For example, Feng Gan and his wife, Dr. Ji Ping, from the School of Mechanics, were forced to leave their home. In November 2002, the Police Department in Changchun City issued a warrant for their arrest during the 11th Party Congress in Beijing.

Jilin University could not protect its faculty members during moments of crises. On contrary, they are reducing faculty salaries and expelling them from the university. The university even took the initiative to send its faculty (i.e. Shen Jianli) for brainwashing and detention (i.e. Zhao Bo) which led to their arrest and death. This will forever be a stigma to Jilin University.

Mr. Lin Yanqing, a Ph.D Fellow in Harbin Industry University, Brutally Tortured

Mr. Lin Yanqing, 34 years old, was originally a postdoctoral Engineering Mechanics student at the School of Architecture Engineering, Harbin Industrial University. He was the youngest Ph.D fellow in the postdoctoral station. He began practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. After Jiang's regime started persecuting Falun Gong in July 1999, he was abducted several times and stripped of his Ph.D title for persisting in his belief and for going to Beijing to appeal against the persecution of Falun Dafa. He was sent back to his hometown of Quanzhou City, Fajian province, to live under surveillance for a year.

Mr. Lin was detained in October 2002, when he went to Quanzhou Police Department to request a copy of his permanent residence registration. Then, he was sent to the Lujiang Brainwashing Center in Fuzhou for 'reformation' through forced labor. Mr. Lin Yanqing is now disabled with only three fingers left. This resulted from frostbite incurred when he was forced off the train. He was being taken home against his will after he went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa in

January 2000. Thus, he had to use his feet to wash his clothes at the labor camp.

He Yingqing, a Teacher at the Hunan Vocational Institute of Biological, Mechanical & Electrical Technologies, was Held in a Brainwashing Center

Ms. He Yingqing, 38 years old, is from Ningxiang County, Hunan Province. Since her graduation from the Mathematics Department of Hunan Teacher's University, she has been teaching at the Hunan Vocational Institute of Biological, Mechanical & Electrical Technologies. Due to her hard work and responsible conduct, she has achieved very good results in her teaching, a fact that was acknowledged by the leaders and her colleagues in the Institute. She was promoted to be the Director of the Mathematics Department and became the mainstay of the Institute. However, she has been subjected to persecution since November 1999 simply for practicing Falun Gong. The Institute sent her to the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp in early October 2002. She was unjustly sentenced to one year of forced labor which was later extended. Her work unit told the guards at the forced labor camp, "No matter what measures you take, make her renounce her belief!"

She was held in the "Intensive Brainwashing Group" of the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp, a unit specifically established to persecute steadfast Falun Gong practitioners. She was handcuffed for 40 days there. With the exception of meals, she was handcuffed more than 20 hours a day, and not allowed to sleep. There were different methods of handcuffing in order to make practitioners suffer the most pain. For instance, she was handcuffed with one hand coming up from her lower back and the other hand going over her shoulder stretching both hands to meet; and was handcuffed with the body bent, rendering her unable to stand up. Nonetheless, the police guards deliberately forced her to stand up straight. They added a small bench under the handcuffs to add more pressure while her body was cuffed in an arched shape. The police guards on duty laughed and nicknamed this torture, 'modeling'. Within ten minutes, both hands are numb from the pressure exerted on the nerves while in this 'modeling' position. After the handcuffs were removed, both her hands were weak and unable to hold anything. One of her hands remained completely numb and devoid of sensation. There was a wound on each hand about an inch wide and so deep that it touched the bone from being handcuffed for a long period. Once, she was jolted with electric batons for an entire day for practicing Falun Gong exercises. As a result, both of her arms were black and blue with bruises. The police guards did not stop shocking her until they realized in fear that she might die. In June 2003, Ms. He Yingqing went on hunger strike in protest. She was not released until 2004. Although she had suffered such brutal persecution in the forced labor camp, she still persisted in practicing Falun Gong. She treated everyone around her with a heart of compassion and tolerance.

Her release from the forced labor camp did not end her persecution. Currently, she is under house arrest and kept in a single-story home. The Institute authorities assigned some "helpers" to monitor her 24 hours a day. She cannot go home to stay with her daughter, a 13-year-old girl who has been separated from her mother for nearly four years. The authorities even threatened to send her to a more severe brainwashing unit.

Since 1999, under the direction of the "610 Office", the Hunan Vocational Institute of Biological, Mechanical & Electrical Technologies have carried out systematic brainwashing and torture on Ms. He for the last four years. This is a tragedy of a mother and daughter being separated while in the same town.

Xing Wenzhen, a Teacher from Northwest Industrial University, was Illegally Deprived of His Pension and Sentenced to Forced Labor Reform

Xing Wenzhen, a teacher from Northwest Industrial University, suffered many diseases such as high blood pressure, pyelonephritis, and lack of vitality as a result of cerebral concussion sequela. Xing Wenzhen had suffered from many traumas and large areas of inflammation in her hip joints since her twenties. For many years, she had to rely on nutritional supplements. However, she has not taken any of these for over seven years since she began her practice of Falun Gong on July 15, 1996. She truly has obtained both mental and physical health. But Jiang's regime persecuted her for being a healthy and good person. She was stripped off her pension and was sentenced to forced labor lasting two years and one month.

It was the annual two week session of China's National Congress Meeting when Xing Wenzhen was released from the forced labor camp. The Head of Security Department, the Section Head, and the Vice Director of the Party Committee ordered Xing Wenzhen to come for a meeting in the Security Department. After Xing Wenzhen went there, they told her they had orders from above to notify Xing Wenzhen to attend the brainwashing unit in Xi'an City. The purpose was to force her into completely renounce her belief, that is, to "dig out" her belief in Falun Gong from her mind. Xing Wenzhen told them that the brainwashing unit was illegal based on three reasons. First, the Constitution of China stipulates that people have freedom of belief. Therefore, it is definitely illegal to force Falun Gong practitioners to give up their belief. In addition, some representatives at the China's National Congress Meeting suggested adding the amendment of "protecting human rights," and "freedom of belief" as a right entitled to its citizen to the Constitution. How ridiculous it is to dig out someone's belief from one's mind!

However, regardless of her explanation, they still insisted on sending Xing Wenzhen to the brainwashing unit, telling her that it was orders from above and that they did not have alternatives. How much longer will they torture people like this?

Cases of Faculty Members Suffering Brainwashing For Their Belief in "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance" Nationwide

Several Students and Teachers From Shanghai Huadong Science University Were Abducted

Minghui reported in September 2003 that several Dafa practitioner students and professors at Shanghai Huadong Science University were abducted and sentenced to forced labor and imprisonment. Among them, Wang Dongming, a Dafa practitioner previously from Huadong Science University was sentenced to 3-years in the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp, Zibo City.

The Brainwashing Class in Kaifeng City Abducted Over 20 Retired Professors from

In mid December 2002, the brainwashing unit in Kaifeng City, Henan Province, illegally held over 20 retired senior professors who are Falun Gong practitioners in Yuxiang Hotel, monitoring them 24 hours a day and forcing them to give up their belief in "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance". Authorities confiscated practitioners' salaries totaling 3,000 yuan each month to pay for their living expenses and salaries for personnel monitoring practitioners until February 2003. After the Spring Festival, the authorities had to release these retired professors since they were very resolute in their belief.

Lecturer Li Xianghong, a Teacher in Xinjiang Engineering Institute in Xinjiang Province Was Sent to Mental Hospitals for Persecution

Li Xianghong, about thirty-seven years old, is from Urumqi, Xinjiang, and is a qualified teacher with a Master's degree from Xinjiang Engineering Institute in Xinjiang Province. She has practiced Falun Gong since 1997 and has been completely cured of Meniere's Syndrome and other diseases. She lives according to the principles of Falun Dafa, and is a kind person at work and at home. Her dedication to work and kindness is well respected and praised by her colleagues and students.

On July 20th 1999, after the persecution of Falun Gong was implemented, Li Xianghong did not give up her belief. In October 1999, she was forced into a mental hospital, the Xinjiang Fourth People's Hospital. She was held there for two months where she was forcibly injected with nerve-damaging drugs.

Chen Xiangqian, a Student from Zhanjiang Ocean University is Expelled and Sentenced to 13-years of Imprisonment

Chen Nianqiang is the former Party Secretary of Zhanjiang Ocean University in Guangdong Province. He is now the Party Secretary of Guangdong Industry College. Since July 20, 1999, he has closely followed Jiang's regime in slandering and attacking Falun Dafa at faculty meetings, and in playing a role to brainwash Falun Dafa practitioners.

In particular, the Party Secretary of Navigation College (former Party Secretary of the Agriculture College), Zhong Pan, had forced 11 students in his college who were Falun Dafa practitioners to go through brainwashing so that he could gain politically. He gave them an ultimatum of either giving up Falun Dafa or being expelled from school.

Chen Xiangqian from Maoming City, Guangdong, is a student and Falun Dafa practitioner. On January 14, 2001, the school sent people to Chen Xiangqian's home in Maoming. Authorities from his school and the Maoming Police Department collaborated to brainwash Mr. Chen. Chen Xiangqian was forced to leave home. He was producing truth-clarifying materials, exposing the facts of the persecution committed by Jiang's regime to the public. On March 4 of the same year, Chen Xiangqian was arrested by the Maoming Police Department when he was making truth clarification material. He was sentenced to a 13-year jail term without due process of law, and was expelled.

Chen Xiangqian's classmate, He Gengqing, was sentenced to an 11-year jail term. Chen Xiangqian's younger sister, Chen Yayan, was sentenced to 5 years. She is currently held in the First Detention Center in Maoming.

Assistant Professor of College of Medicine at Jiamusi University, Ms. Yang Yongping, Illegally Imprisoned for Practicing Falun Gong

Ms. Yang Yongping was born in 1959 and was an Associate Professor at the Jiamusi University's College of Medicine. Jiamusi University once awarded her "A Double Ten Distinguished Teacher."

In January 2001, Professor Yang was training high school students as candidates to become teachers. She discussed the mysteries of human knowledge, exploration of life, and incorporated discussions of Falun Gong and modern science in her teaching. She was reported to the authorities for doing so and was unlawfully sentenced to 3 years in prison.

When state terrorism is committed on a peaceful campus, when people who are upholding their morality to be good people are treated as targets of hatred, when teachers are forced out of their classes, and when students are expelled from school because of their belief in "Truth-Compassion-Forbearance," honesty evaporates, losing its power in the scheme of lies, evil and violence. The nation will lose its future when morality is trampled and human nature is destroyed. Jiang Zemin's attempt to eradicate Falun Gong over the past five years has brought tremendous disaster to China's education system, people, and the entire nation.
