Truth about the Persecution
Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Lu Jingbo from Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province was repeatedly harassed and followed by police on July 20, 1999. Then on September 11, 2001, policemen from the local police station ransacked Mr. Lu's house and arrested him. Mr. Lu was detained for some time before being sent to a brainwashing center where persecutors tried to force him to renounce his belief in Falun Dafa. Because their brainwashing attempts were not successful, Mr. Lu was sent to a detention center. The police used his family to attempt to force him to give up his cultivation. As a last resort, he said, against his will, that he would not practice Falun Gong any longer and he was released. Before the 16th Congress of the Party, when the policemen came to talk to him again, Mr. Lu clearly told them that he would continue to practice Falun Gong. While the police began to plot their strategy for persecuting him he was forced to leave his home to avoid being subjected to mistreatment.
On May 14, 2004, authorities led and directed by the staff of the "610 Office" (1) of Kangping County's Political and Legal Commission of Liaoning Province, broke into Dafa practitioner, Ms. Liu Yumei's, home in Bajiazi Village, Shengli Township. They brutally dragged Ms. Liu Yumei away and sent her to the Zhangshi Brainwashing Center in Shenyang City.
Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Huang Mingying from Guizhou Province was arrested and taken to a brainwashing center on April 12, 2004. Now one month has passed and she is still held at the Meikan Guest House in Anshun City. She is confined to a small room and three people continuously monitor her. Reports indicated that she was to be detained for three months and would be released only if she agreed to write the "Three Statements." (2)
Cases of persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in Wusheng County, Sichuan Province: Ms. Zheng Yunfeng, 64, is now illegally detained at the Wusheng Detention Center. Duan Wenhua, 50, was arrested on October 30, 2003, for explaining the facts of the persecution against Falun Gong, and is currently held at the Wusheng County Detention Center. Ms. Luo Caifang, 40, was reported and arrested when she was found printing Falun Dafa material at a printing shop. The police tried to extort a confession by torturing her for 24 hours, also depriving her of sleep. Ms. Lu Zhaoqun, 50, was abducted while clarifying the truth. Two weeks later she was released after her family paid 3,000 Yuan (3) bail.
Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Qu Shufan was arrested, detained, and forcibly sent to brainwashing centers multiple times. Her house had been ransacked many times, just because she explained the facts about Falun Dafa and the persecution. One day in August 2002, she organized an experience sharing meeting at her home. Dozens of persecutors from the Lanzhou City Police Department, Haishiwan Police Station of Honggu Police Sub-bureau, and the "610 Office" of the Lanzhou Graphite Company Limited surrounded her house for nine days. Ms. Qu was then sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor. Her term expired on April 27, 2004. However, when her family arrived to pick her up, they found that she had been secretly taken to the Gansu Women's Forced Labor Camp. She is currently detained at Gongjiawan in Lanzhou City.
Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Han Ping is a teacher at the computer center of Fushan University. She was arrested around April 21, 2004, and her whereabouts are not known at this time.
Persecutors and Their Crimes
Falun Dafa practitioners Ms. Yang Shukun, Ms. Yang Shuyuan, Ms. Yang Shumin, Ms. Wang Lijie, and Ms. Yang Huiying from Kangping County, Liaoning Province went to Beijing to appeal. They were arrested and detained for 15 days at the No. Five Detention Center of Shenyang City. All together they carried more than ten thousand Yuan in cash, which was confiscated. The depraved people responsible for this incident included Li Mi, Bai Guozheng, Zhang Shaowei, and Zhang X (female) from the Kangping County Police Department, and Li Heng, former Head of the Zhenbei Police Sub-station. They said, "When you are released you will get your money back." Li Heng put all this in writing. However, after 15 days when these practitioners were released they asked for their money back. However, Li Mi said, "What is taken from the people has been used for the people."
Corrupt officials from the Jien Nickel Company of Hongqiling Township in Panshi City, Jilin Province persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners. Dafa practitioner Mr. Luo Guangyu was discharged from his work by the company and sentenced to one year forced labor for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. He was released only after his term of forced labor was extended for an additional year. On September 29, 2003, he was arrested again for handing out truth-clarification materials, and is now detained at the Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jiutai. Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Cheng Rong was forced to step down from his post over two years ago for not writing the Statement of Guarantee and is now facing the possibility of being discharged from employment if he still refuses to write the statement to renounce his belief of Falun Dafa.
At about 4:40 p.m., May 12 or 13, 2004, vicious policemen from the Yudong Police Station of Shijiazhuang City arrested Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Han of Jinma Residential Area and took her to the police station. They ransacked her home immediately afterwards. At about 7:00 a.m. on the morning of May 14, 2004, another Falun Dafa practitioner from the Jinma Residential Area, Ms. Du Yanfang, about 50 years old, was also arrested by the Yudong Police Station.
(1) "610 Office" - A bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches.
(2) "Three Statements" - Practitioners are coerced under brainwashing and torture to write these as proof that they have given up their belief. Created by the "610 Office," the three statements consist of a letter of repentance, a guarantee to never again practice Falun Gong, and a list of names and addresses of all family members, friends and acquaintances who are practitioners.
(3) Yuan - Chinese currency. The monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 Yuan.
