(Clearwisdom.net) The Internet police in China seem to have been working really hard recently. I am responsible for maintaining a mailing list in my state. The Chinese Internet police have been very interested in this mailing list. Every week they would use different tactics to attack this list. It looks like they know a lot of information about it. If they spend so much time attacking such a mailing list, one can imagine how much more effort they spend in sabotaging other computer-related projects practitioners have been doing.
Practitioners overseas often overlook the issue of computer security. Once, the computer of a practitioner in charge of a very important Dafa project went down, and I went to help him. I found that he was using Windows 98 with outdated anti-virus software he purchased two years ago. He connected this computer to the Internet via DSL (a Broadband connection method) 24 hours a day. As a result, his computer was loaded by hackers with various things, including viruses, games, Trojans, etc. It is said that without firewall software and more recent patch software, computers using Windows can be easily hacked within 10 minutes of being connected to the Internet.
I know a practitioner who is a lawyer. Several times his computer went dead because of hacking and he lost a lot of valuable client information. The good thing is that he has a Router (a device through which multiple computers can be connected to internet simultaneously) and the damage wasn't that bad.
May I suggest that computers used for important projects get equipped with a Router and are not loaded with Win98?
There's one article published on Clearwisdom talking about basic computer security setup and usage (http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2003/7/13/38075.html). I found it very useful.
I hope that practitioners, especially those responsible for important Dafa projects, will pay attention to computer security. This is being responsible for Dafa. If you have any questions, please be sure find practitioners who are knowledgeable to help out.
