Facts of the Persecution
Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Diao Lanyu from Dalian City, Liaoning Province is 64 years old. On December 11, 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal, and was detained at the Tiananmen Square Police Substation, then taken back to Dalian. Her family had 5,000 yuan (1) extorted from them, and she was forced to undergo a brainwashing session held at a drug rehabilitation center. On December 27, 2000, she was detained at the Yaojia Detention Center. She went on a hunger strike for four days, and was released on January 16, 2001. Since her Falun Dafa books were confiscated by the police in December 2000, she could not read Falun Dafa teachings until May 2001. During that period, her body became swollen, she could not take care of herself and she passed out several times. It was only after practicing Falun Dafa exercises and studying the teachings again, that she escaped death and recovered her health.
Around August 6, 2004, Shanhaiguan District Court in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province delivered subpoenas to Falun Dafa practitioners Ms. Chen Ying and others, which indicates that they are planning to put these Dafa practitioners on trial. On April 30, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioners Ms. Chen Ying, Mr. Ouyang Zhandong, Mr. Wu Wenzhang, and Gao Jihong (gender unknown) were arrested by the Shanhaiguan Police while on a tour in Changshoushan. On May 1, 2004, lawless policemen Fu Yong (male) and others ransacked Mr. Ouyang Zhandong's house and arrested Dafa practitioner Li Yaokun (gender unknown). On May 2, police ransacked Ms. Chen Ying's home, and arrested Dafa practitioners Mr. Bao Changjiang and Ms. Deng Chunfeng. These eight practitioners were interrogated, beaten and deprived of their right to sleep. They were sent to the Qinhuangdao City No.1 Detention Center on May 16, 2004.
Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. He Mingli was arrested by police in September 2000, and sent to the Nan-an District Detention Center for four months before he was bailed out by his employer, the Chongqing City Industrial Western Medicine Research Institute. Mr. He was harassed constantly by guard Xia Xiaohua after his release. His wife could not take the pressure and divorced him. Mr. He had to become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being illegally arrested at home. We have received a report that he was arrested and is currently detained at the Jiulongpo Detention Center in Chongqing City.
Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Shanxiang, 65 years old, is a family member of an employee of the Zhucheng City Power Plant in Shandong Province. She went to appeal for Falun Dafa after July 20, 1999, when the persecution began. Her home was ransacked and she was monitored, detained, and interrogated. Her family had 1,000 yuan extorted from them. The Zhucheng City Power Plant forbids any Falun Dafa practitioners or their family members (including children) to work there.
Falun Dafa practitioners, Zhang Xia and her husband from Anqiu City, Weifang County, Shandong Province explained the facts of the persecution of Falun Gong to people, and were detained, sent to labor camps and brainwashed by the police many times. Their family members were also illegally fined. The couple had to become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being arrested at home. Zhang Xia's husband was arrested in May 2001, and detained at the Changle Labor Camp. Ms. Zhang was arrested in the winter of 2002, and detained at the Anqiu City Detention Center. She went on a hunger strike for more than 50 days and was sentenced to three years in the Wangchun Labor Camp in Shandong Province.
Police in Qidong Prefecture, Hunan Province illegally fined Falun Dafa practitioners and tortured Mr. Zhang Xianzhao (in his 70s) during an interrogation. They plan to put Dafa practitioners Ms. Tan Jinyun and Ms. Deng Honghua on trial. They are currently being held at the Qidong County Detention Center.
