Part 1
Mr. Wang Lixin, an employee from the Jilin City Agricultural Chemical Factory in Jilin Province, was detained by the police on November 27, 2000 and charged with "disturbing social order" for photocopying 100 copies of Falun Gong truth-clarification materials. At Jilin City's No. 3 Detention Center, Mr. Wang was beaten savagely. He went on a hunger strike in order to appeal for his release, but was violently force-fed by the guards and the prisoners, and he suffered more beatings. Several days later, on December 5, Wang Lixin was tortured to death. His family has filed lawsuits with the courts many times, but each time their complaint was rejected. As a result of trying to seek justice for their son, the family has lost everything and is now living in poverty.
Mr. Wang Lixin was 35 years old and lived in Building No. 21 of the Anshun Residential Compound, Beishan Street, Jilin City. On the day before his death, on December 4, 2000, when a family member visited him in the detention center, Mr. Wang's speech, and his mental and physical state were normal.
1. Wang Lixin was beaten to death within a few days of arrival in the detention center
The police arrested Wang Lixin on November 27, 2000 for making 100 copies of Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials, charging him with "disturbing social order." He was detained in Cell No. 5 at Jilin City's No. 3 Detention Center and was severely beaten. He went on a hunger strike to protest such outrage. Two days later, when he was sent into Cell No. 6, the cell leader, prisoner Feng Naiwu, used all kinds of methods to torment Mr. Wang, including verbal abuse and forbidding him from using the toilet. On his fourth day of being on a hunger strike, when Mr. Wang was sent to Cell No. 8, the cell head, Yang Hailong, tormented him with both hard and soft tactics. Feng Naiwu offered to take Mr. Wang back to Cell No. 6, and declared in public that prison guard Yang had already said that they could beat Wang Lixin. The villains savagely force-fed Mr. Wang and brutally tried to pry his mouth open until his mouth became all bloody and he passed out from suffocation.
Feng Naiwu urged two young prisoners, about 15 or 16 years old, to persuade Wang Lixin to eat. They were wailing and whining, saying that if Mr. Wang still refused to eat, Feng would beat them up. Wang Lixin saw through Feng's tricks and remained unmoved. Feng then ordered the nine people on night watch to prevent Mr. Wang from sleeping. Zhang Qun, a criminal who had practiced boxing for over ten years, poured cold water over Mr. Wang as soon as he saw him close his eyes. When Wang Lixin's eyes closed again, Zhang kicked Mr. Wang's ribs and feet with his heel. He also struck Mr. Wang's ribs with his fists as if he were a punching bag for boxing training.
On the fifth day of Wang Lixin's hunger strike, guards Yang Zhonghua and Zhang Guanjun brought in several accomplices. They dragged Mr. Wang, who was handcuffed and shackled into the guards' office and force-fed him a liter (about 1 quart) of highly concentrated salt water. Looking triumphant, Zhang Guanjun walked around in Cell No. 6 holding the water bottle with which they had force-fed Wang Lixin earlier. The prisoners in the cell could clearly see the remaining salt left in the bottle. On the sixth night, Wang Lixin was tortured again and was deprived of sleep. He suffered greatly from the effects of the saline solution.
At noon on the seventh day, Mr. Wang became very weak. His mind was not clear, and his speech was no longer normal. Still, prisoners Feng Naiwu, Zhang Qun and another one called Xiaohong took turns kicking and beating him. Guards Yang Zhonghua and Zhang Guanjun watched from outside the window for two minutes, and then they opened the cell and ordered Feng Naiwu, Xiaohong and others to bring Wang Lixin to the guards' office. People could hear the painful screams from Wang Lixin. Half an hour later, the perpetrators sent Mr. Wang back to Cell No. 6. His hands were handcuffed behind his back and he was gagged with a white towel. He could only make a low, muffled sound. The next day, Yang Zhonghua and Zhang Guanjun again escorted Mr. Wang to the guards' office and urged prisoners Lai Honxiang and Feng Naiwu to brutally beat him again. They shouted, "Beat him up! Beat him to death! I will take the responsibility if he dies!" Ten minutes later, Mr. Wang Lixin's painful screams stopped. The guards discovered that his life was in danger. In a panic, they sent him to a hospital, but it was already too late. Wang Lixin had been beaten to death.
During Mr. Wang's hunger strike, prisoner Zhang Qun forbade him from sleeping. When he was beating Mr. Wang, an elderly guard who was patrolling saw him. The elderly guard stopped Zhang, and noted this incident on the blackboard the next day. But Yang Zhonghua ignored this and was hostile toward the elderly guard. This made the group of prisoners become even more rampant in their abuse of Mr. Wang.
2. The autopsy findings
On December 13, 2000, the Jilin City Police Department performed an autopsy on Wang Lixin's body. According to the report, it had become evident that Mr. Wang had become very thin; his ribs were broken and his chest was black and blue from clotted blood; the back of the lower lobe of his left lung showed a large purple-colored patch; his intestines had become noticeably thin and shrunken, and the intestinal membrane was permeated with blood and ecchymosis; the caecum part was heavy and showed a dark-red color, with a section approximately 60 cm long that was bleeding; the lymph node in the membrane of his intestines was enlarged and swollen. The coroner recorded this final diagnosis: 1) acute swelling of the brain, lungs swollen with water; brain protruding; 2) reactive syndrome from whole-body inflammation; 3) festering lobular pneumonia.
3. Wang Lixin's father filed lawsuits with the courts of various levels, but his complaints were rejected
Wang Lixin was detained on November 27, 2000 and died on December 5, 2000, within a short period of only seven to eight days. His is clearly an abnormal death. In June 2001, Mr. Wang's father filed a lawsuit at the Jilin City Intermediate Court against the Jilin Police Department and asked for compensation of 200,000 yuan (1).
The plaintiff made the following points: 1) Lobular pneumonia cannot cause immediate death of a normal person. On December 4, 2000, when family members of the plaintiff visited Wang Lixin, his speech, mental state and health were normal, but he died suddenly the next day, which is abnormal. 2) The autopsy showed that there was clotted blood between a number of his ribs, and two of his ribs were broken. Such injuries could only be caused by violent external force. Mr. Wang was handcuffed during detention. Then who is the one responsible for his injuries? His severe injuries were the direct cause of his death (reactive syndrome from whole-body inflammation). 3) Article 31 of the Regulations of the People's Republic of China regarding Detention stipulates that "treatment should be made available in a timely manner to ill prisoners." The defendants failed to offer treatment in time, and brought about the death of Wang Lixin from illness and injury.
On June16, 2001, the Jilin City Police Department made the decision to deny any compensation to Wang Lixin's family.
Regarding the death of his son Wang Lixin, Wang Shuan filed a lawsuit to the Jilin City Intermediate People's Court on July 2001, asking the Jilin City Police Department for compensation in the amount of 200,000 Yuan.
In August 2001, Wang Shuan filed a lawsuit with the Jilin City Chuanying District People's Court and asked for compensation but the court refused to accept the case.
In September 2001, Wang Lixin's father Wang Shuan filed a lawsuit with the Jilin City Intermediate People's Court and continued his efforts to bring the Jilin City Police Department to justice for killing his son.
At the same time, Wang Shuan filed a lawsuit with the Jilin City People's Government and asked the concerned departments to investigate his son's death.
Wang Shuan's lawsuits were not accepted for various fabricated reasons. During the period of filing the lawsuits, Wang Lixin's family had spent all of their savings, which totaled over 500,000 yuan, and his family was almost bankrupt.
On October 30, 2003, since the Jilin City Chuanying District People's Court and the Jilin City Intermediate People's Court made the decision to not accept his case, Wang Lixin's father Wang Shuan again filed a lawsuit with the Jilin City Intermediate People's Court and the Jilin Province People's Court and asked the courts to reconsider the case.

4. The law has still not punished the principal criminals; the witnesses are sent to labor camps
The principal criminals in the death of Wang Lixin are Zhang Guangjun, a former guard and deputy head of Jilin City No. 3 Detention Center, now a division chief in the Jilin City Detention Center; Yang Zhonghua, a Jilin City No. 3 Detention Center guard (his home phone number is 86-432-4679115) and Feng Naiwu, an inmate leader, who was detained in the labor camp for racketeering; none of these people have so far been punished.
To block the spread of this information, the detention center authorities sentenced those Dafa practitioners who had witnessed Wang Lixin's death to forced labor.
5. At least 25 Dafa practitioners have died from torture in Jilin City
It is known that at least 25 Dafa practitioners have died from torture in Jilin City. Among the victims are Wang Lixin, Fu Chunsheng and Li Chuanping who died as a direct result of torture in Jilin City's No. 3 Labor Camp. Mr. Fu Chunsheng, 52 years old, a former employee of the Hydro-Engineering Machinery Plant in Jilin City, lived in an apartment building affiliated with the Jilin City Steel Plant. On December 28, 2001, the police broke into his home and took him away. Later, Mr. Fu was sent to the Jilin City No. 3 Detention Center. On January 1, 2002, just three days after he was sent to the detention center, the guards beat him to death in the middle of the night. After that, the police irreverently sent Mr. Fu to a hospital for "emergency rescue" and ordered a doctor to issue a medical certificate, claiming that Fu Chunsheng had died of a heart attack (myocardial infarction). His family members viewed the body. Mr. Fu's feet were bare, his hands were bent in a crooked position and his head was swollen. His face and ears were black and blue, and blood covered his body. There was blood and a yellow liquid inside his nose and mouth. There was not a single uninjured spot on his torso, back or legs. His eyes were still open and there were obvious signs of torture everywhere. When Mr. Fu's family members questioned the detention center director, he responded, "This was classified as a natural death according to a legal medical expert's examination."
Ms. Li Chuanping, 50 years old, lived in the Water and Electricity Residence in Longtan District, Jilin City, Jilin Province. In July or August 2001, she was detained in the Jilin City No. 3 Detention Center. She held a hunger strike to protest the vicious persecution. Ms. Li began to cough and vomit blood. The authorities in the No. 3 Detention Center were afraid that Li Chuanping would die while in custody, so they sent her back home in September 2001. On August 13, 2003, Li Chuanping died, her death a direct result of the injustice she received while in detention.
Li Zaiji was tortured to death on July 7, 2000 in the Jilin City Labor Camp, his body covered with injuries
Mr. Li Zaiji, 48 years old, lived in the 10th Building on Qingdao Street, Jilin City. He was a plumber for the Jilin City Infectious Diseases Hospital. On July 7, 2000 he was tortured to death at the Jilin City Labor Camp. His body was covered with injuries.
Mr. Wang Ziguang, 54, was the provost at the 26th Middle School, Jilin City. Because he persisted in cultivating Falun Dafa, wishing only to be a good person, he was arrested at his home. After he was detained in the local township government building for some time, Mr. Wang was sent to the Jilin City Labor Camp. In less than one year he was tortured to point of near death and was sent back home where he died approximately five days later.
Yu Lixin, an official of the Municipal General Labor Union for Jilin City, holding a bachelor's degree, was tortured to death in the Police Hospital
Ms. Yu Lixin, 36, was an official in the Municipal General Labor Union of Jilin City, and was the holder of a bachelor's degree. Ms. Yu went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. Jilin City Police Department personnel took her back. Ms. Yu was discharged from her job, and was illegally sentenced to five years of imprisonment. During this time she suffered from all kinds of brutal tortures, being tormented to a point near death. On March 8, 2002, Ms. Yu went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal persecution. The Police Hospital then injected her with a drug that damages the central nervous system. On April 5, Yu Lixin fell into a coma. On May 4, 2002, the 66th day of her hunger strike, she died.
