Facts of the Persecution
1. Falun Dafa Practitioner Guo Zhenge Is Illegally Detained Because He Legally Appeals
My name is Guo Zhenge. I am a Falun Dafa practitioner in Yanqing County, Beijing City. At 10:00 a.m. on November 15, 2004, I exercised my constitutional rights and asked the Communist Party Committee secretary of my hometown to send my appeal letter to the leaders of the government. About 20 minutes after I returned home, the authorities illegally took me to the local police station and proceeded to ransack my home. In the police station, I told the director, "You illegally detained me and you are violating the law in the name of following it." They were aware of their misconduct but said nothing. To help them understand the truth, I clarified the facts about Falun Gong to them. The police from the county police department wanted me to sign the list of articles which were taken from my home and the search warrant notice. I said, "Your action is totally illegal. I will not make it legitimate by signing these papers." I tore the notice apart and I demanded to see the police station's Communist Party Committee secretary. In fact, he was standing right next to me, but he had his head down, blushing with shame. I went on a hunger strike to protest their illegal actions. On the fourth day of my hunger strike, the authorities tricked me by saying they would bring me to see the secretary, but they instead took me to the hospital for a physical examination. The result of the physical was that I had heart disease. They were so scared that they released me under the condition that I was "still under investigation, it was not proper to detain me because of my physical condition, and there was no need to post bail."

2. In Order to Disavow a Debt, a Person Has a Falun Dafa Practitioner Arrested
Su Xunjie from Hanlilou Village, Chengguan Town, Huaiyang County, Henan Province, borrowed more than 20,000 yuan from Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Sufang eighteen years ago. Ms. Zhang since asked him to return the money many times, but he has delayed the repayment for many years. Ms. Zhang was illegally arrested because she distributed truth-clarifying materials about Falun Gong in Fuyang City, Anhui Province. She was detained at the Linquan Detention Center. Ms. Zhang was released on August 24, 2004, but she had not returned home since then, lest she be illegally arrested from her home and subjected to further persecution. She again found Su Xunjie and asked him to return the money. Su, however, snatched the signed debt statement from Ms. Zhang's hand and tore it into pieces, and then he brutally beat her. Ms. Zhang Sufang gave him some "truth-clarification" materials, but he reported her to the authorities. This led the police from Huaiyang County to abduct Ms. Zhang, and take her to a detention center on October 28, 2004.

3. Wang Guanglin Is Illegally Detained in Yongchuan Prison in the Beipei District, Chongqing City
Mr. Wang Guanglin, a Falun Gong practitioner from the Beipei District of Chongqing City, was abducted on August 19, 2004. After he went on a hunger strike for one month in protest, he escaped using righteous thoughts and actions on September 19. On November 28, 2004, Mr. Wang was again abducted and taken to a police station because he tried to stop a brutal abduction which occurred in Gaoliang Town, Wanzhou District. That night, he was transferred to the Wanzhou Detention Center where he suffered the "Tiger Bench" torture continuously for three days. His hands and feet were shackled to the iron bench, causing his feet to become severely swollen and numb. Wang Guanglin went on a hunger strike to protest this abuse. After he was taken to the Beipei Detention Center, the police brutally force-fed him through his nose twice each day, and his stomach was thus badly injured. On January 19, 2005, Mr. Wang was sent to Yongchuan Prison, where false documents were fabricated against him in order to take revenge for his previous escape.
