Facts of the Persecution
An older woman in Guangdong Province appeals: "Please release my daughter whose term is long overdue."
My daughter Ms. He Zhiwei, 40 years old, used to be an assistant manager for the Gongbei Customs Company in Zhuhai. She is now divorced and has a daughter attending high school. Her hometown is in the Nanhai District in Foshan City.
Zhiwei started to practice Falun Dafa in 1998. In 2002 she was sentenced to two years of forced labor for not giving up her belief in Falun Gong. I'm nearly 80 years old, and I miss my daughter very much and long for her to come home. Her own daughter also cannot wait to have her mother back.
I respect my daughter's belief, and I know from my heart and from what I see that she did not get involved in any politics. The law-enforcement departments should not violate the law and hold her in detention when her term is already long overdue. Do you want to keep her locked her up until she suffers a mental collapse? Does such conduct that wastes money and manpower benefit the country in any way? My daughter should have been released over a year ago. Everyone knows that her detention is unlawful.

Police in Jinzhou City ransacked homes in the guise of checking residency cards and arrested the family member of a Dafa practitioner
At just past 9:00 a.m. on January 21, 2005, two police officers from the Guta District Beijie Police Station in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, tricked family members of Dafa practitioner Ms. Xu Hui into opening the door, saying that they wanted to check residency cards. They then ransacked their home. When Ms. Xu's 20-year-old son stepped forward to stop them, they brutally beat him. His head was bleeding and filled with a buzzing noise.
The police took Ms. Xu's son to the police station for interrogation. With each question they asked, they slapped him in the face. They also body-searched him and cuffed his hands to a stool. Later, another policeman came, who also abused and beat him.
Ms. Xu's son was locked up for 15 days, during which time the police again went to his home to threaten his father, ordering him to find his wife. By the time Ms. Xua's son was released, she had been forced into homelessness to avoid being captured and tortured.

Two death cases in Liaoning and Jilin Provinces as a result of the persecution
Mr. Xu Ning, from Shuangtaizi District, Panjin City, Liaoning Province, used to be an employee of the Panjin Ethylene Industry Company. He was also an assistant at the Falun Gong practice site in Liaohua. He went to Beijing to appeal in 1999, was arrested and was taken back to the Shuangtaizi District Police Department. The police and personnel from his workplace forced him to write a guarantee statement. He wrote the statement under pressure, but afterwards suffered enormous mental torment because he was not true to his conscience. Twenty days later he passed away while sitting on a sofa at home. He was only in his early 30s.
Ms. Li Guiying, 60 years old, was from Yima Village, Anshu Town, Dongliao County, Jilin Province. Before she started practicing Falun Gong, she had many illnesses, such as year-round headaches, stomach trouble, hepatitis and neurasthenia. After she started practicing Falun Gong in 1996, all these illnesses disappeared. After July 20, 1999, she suffered harassment from the local police station. The police confiscated her Dafa books and threatened her. Under pressure from the police she gave up her practice of Falun Gong. In 2001 she developed pancreatic cancer and died on June 11 of that same year.
