(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Shi Yulan was a Falun Dafa practitioner from Liaozhong County, Liaoning Province. The persecution of Falun Dafa hurt her terribly in her mind and body. She died on April 17, 2005.
Ms. Shi Yulan was 46 years old. She started practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. Ms. Shi had a tumor before practicing, and it miraculously disappeared after cultivating Falun Dafa.
Jiang Zemin and his regime began persecuting Falun Gong in 1999. Ms. Shi went to Beijing to validate Falun Dafa in October 1999. She was arrested by the Jinzhou City Police Liaison Office in Beijing and was detained more than twenty days in the Shenyang City Women's Ziqiang School and the Fifth Detention Center. She was forced to pay 500 yuan as extortion money before being released and allowed to go home.
In September 2000, Ms. Shi made copies of Falun Dafa flyers in a photocopy store, and was observed doing this by the local police. They detained her again in the Shenyang City Detention Center. She went on a hunger strike in protest and was brutally force-fed, with four or five prisoners holding her down, and a guard named Wang slapping her face. The prison doctor inserted a thick tube into her stomach through her nose and force-fed her with a salt solution mixed with corn meal. She vomited blood and passed blood in her feces. Ms. Shi was sent to the hospital to be force-fed for nineteen days. After more than two months in detention, police from the Xijie Substation of Liaozhong Conuty sent Shi Yulan to the Longshan Labor Camp in Shenyang City for three years.
Inside the Longshan Labor Camp, Ms. Shi suffered inhuman torture on a daily basis. She was deprived of sleep for more than two weeks and was not allowed to do the Falun Dafa exercises or she would be beaten. About two weeks later, practitioners Ms. Wang Hong (who has since also died of torture), Ms. Cheng Yunyan, and Ms. Shi tried to escape from the second floor but were reported by prisoners in a building next to theirs. They were captured and taken back. Ms. Wang Hong and Ms. Cheng Yunyan were both beaten until they were bleeding from the nose. Ms. Shi was punched several times as well. Another Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Qi Shifan tried to stop the police violence against them, and she was beaten so severely by guards Wei and Li that her eyes were swollen shut.
Afterwards, all Falun Dafa practitioners in the two cells went on a hunger strike to protest this brutality. The guards then beat the practitioners who led the hunger strikes and forced them to go downstairs to eat. Ms. Wang, Ms. Cheng and Ms. Shi were secretly sent to the Dongling Police Station and were not allowed to wear any clothes. Ms. Cheng Yunyan was beaten until her face was not recognizable. The three women practitioners were later sent to the City Detention Center, where Ms. Wang Hong was frequently beaten. Her body was covered with purple bruises. After four months, the police sent the three women to the Zhangshi Brainwashing Class. Because she refused to accept the brainwashing, Ms. Wang Hong was forced to endure the "body-folding" (1) torture for eight hours, after which she could not walk. Ms. Shi was forced to give up her cultivation under the cruel brainwashing, and she later became sick with tuberculosis. She was then released on bail on medical parole.
After Shi Yulan returned home, guards from the Longshan Labor Camp continued to come to her home to harass and threaten her. Local police and the neighborhood administration also frequently took part in the harassment. Under the influence of the authorities, she cooperated with them in their efforts to brainwash other Falun Dafa practitioners. But as time went by, Ms. Shi gradually saw the true nature of the persecution and its terrible methods. She published a solemn declaration on the Minghui website [the Chinese version of Clearwisdom] and again walked the path of Falun Dafa. But the persecution and torture and done tremendous damage, and the damage was so severe that the tuberculosis worsened. Shi Yulan died on April 17, 2005, with regret for her actions at the hands of the persecutors.
(1) "Body-folding" refers to standing with two legs straight and close together and with the head bent downward as far as it will go toward the feet in front of the knees. The fingers point to the ground, the head is upside down, the body forming nearly a 90-degree angle. The victim is forced to keep this position for 17 to 18 hours a day except when eating, sleeping and using the toilet.
