(Clearwisdom.net) The Ottawa Citizen published an editorial entitled "Get Tough With China" last Friday regarding the recent claim of a former Chinese security agent that CCP has large number of agents spying in Canada,. The Citizen pointed out that Canadian government should confront CCP if it is really spying in Canada and continuing to threat Canadian Falun Gong practitioners.
The report said: "...a public friendliness with China might be the best long-term strategy for dealing with the dictators who run it, but we must not forget that friendliness is not the same thing as friendship."
According to a former Chinese diplomat and a former public security official who have both withdrawn from the CCP recently, Chinese government has deployed large number of spies in Australia, New Zealand, U.S. and Canada. It was estimated that there were about 1000 Chinese spies in Canada alone.
Though the Canadian government was building a trading partnership and enjoyed "enjoys strong and deep ties" with China as stated by Foreign Affairs and International Trade stated, the Ottawa Citizen stressed that "carrying on as if nothing has happened is not the appropriate response if China is spying on us and threatening our citizens."
"... if Chinese agents are intimidating Canadians engaging in free association, expression and belief, or seeking access to Canadian secrets, our national sovereignty is being violated. This must be stopped." The Citizen stated.
