Participating in a Folk Festival
On July 24, 2005, a celebration of folk art under the theme of "Sounding the Accordion" was held in Hestersterk, a town near St. Petersburg. Falun Gong practitioners were invited to take part in the festival, where everyone dressed in traditional Russian costumes.
The practitioners set up desks and chairs and taught people how to fold paper lotus flowers. Visitors crowded the streets and many came to participate in our activity, including the festival organizer.
Music created by Falun Gong practitioners was played, accompanied by a voice-over that explained the meaning of the lotus flowers and sharing actual stories of practitioners. The voice-over introduced Falun Gong's spread around the world and exposed the Chinese Communist Party's six years of brutal persecution against Falun Gong practitioners, who believe in living by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.
The Sympathy of an Elderly Woman at the Gate of Victory Park
On the weekend of July 30, 2005, practitioners from St. Petersburg displayed truth clarification photo boards and handed out a truth-clarifying newspaper to expose the crimes committed by former Chinese president Jiang Zemin and the Chinese Communist Party. Many people stopped in front of the display boards, carefully read them and asked many questions, wanting to know more about the persecution. One elderly woman read the display boards for a long time. After she finished reading, she shed tears while gently touching the practitioners in the photos who had suffered brutal torture. We could tell that this elderly woman sympathized and was concerned about these good people who suffered such senseless persecution. People in front of the display boards noticed this scene and were moved. One practitioner walked up to the woman to explain the facts in more detail.
