(Clearwisdom.net) I am a teacher in a junior high school in southern Taiwan. This entire school year I have been the counseling teacher for the sophomore class. As a practitioner, I feel that moral education is primary and that it is important to instill the principle of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" into my teaching. At the end of the semester, I let the students talk about what they thought about the year. I found that over 90 percent of them felt that "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" had changed them a great deal.
Below are the reflections of four of my students.
Youdong: When I became a sophomore a year ago, the strange feelings of being in junior high did not go away until the first session of the counseling class. The teacher told us the principle of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" and helped us to understand manners of interacting with people. The earnest and patient teachings of the Founder of Falun Gong deeply moved me. Those wonderful articles cleansed my mind and let my heart be more open and accepting of the world around me. They exposed the evilness of the Communist Party and let people see clearly the oppression of the Mainland Chinese people by the evil regime.
Zhenwei: The teacher is the first person that taught me manners since I was small. If I had not met this teacher, I might still be a troublemaker and unrepentant. If the teacher did not teach me Falun Gong, I would not know the principle of "gain and loss" and "transformation of karma." Without this teacher, I would still be on a wrong path. Thank you, Teacher.
Peiyun: The teacher has taught me about a very important matter in life - "De." "De" is indeed very important. I learned a lot in this class. I was very impetuous in the past, and I lied a lot. Since I have taken Ms. Zhang's class and learned about Falun Gong, I have learned how to be tolerant and not to lie. I have become much more upbeat, because I know that life will be happier if one is broad-minded. I cannot change the length of my life, but I can control its breadth.
Hualing: In the beginning, we were taught manners. Later we were told stories. Through these lessons, Ms. Zhang taught us a lot and changed many of our bad habits while keeping our virtuous attributes. We became better students both academically and behaviorally. The teacher often told a story to teach us a lesson and then asked us to talk about what we thought and to share with fellow students. Sometimes we discussed in small groups and then summarized everyone's thoughts. It was very interesting and useful. Some students who were normally quiet participated as well, and everyone has improved from group discussions.
