(Clearwisdom.net) In mid-August 2005, a three-month-long brainwashing campaign was initiated in Xi'an Jiaotong University as part of the nationwide "Maintaining Advancement" movement started by President Hu Jintao. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials actually know that "Maintaining Advancement" has already become a joke among the citizens, but they still put up the pretense of deceiving themselves and others.
On August 20, 2005, Mr. Yang Huaiyong, who lives in Village No. 1 of the family living quarters of Xi'an Jiaotong University, was talked into opening his door by a group of police officers and plainclothes policemen. The police swarmed in to arrest him illegally. Some officers wrested his single arm (Mr. Yang has only one arm) while others lifted his legs and they carried him to their police car. The police officers were afraid that Yang Huaiyong would alert the neighbors about his unlawful arrest, so they gagged him with a towel and left in a hurry.
The above scene was the "opening ceremony" of the three-month-long "Maintaining Advancement" brainwashing movement in Xi'an Jiaotong University, and also their first important "preventive measure." This also gives a new definition to the "Maintaining Advancement" movement, and provides a true picture of the scared and frantic CCP in its last days.
Any rational person cannot help asking: Why is the CCP so afraid of an ordinary one-armed old man who is unable to care for himself? Why is the formidable CCP exerting so much effort to arrest a disabled elderly man?
That is because this elderly man sent out a letter asking for help. On June 12, 2005, his kind wife, Ms. Wang Xiuying, was secretly taken to a brainwashing center from her post at Xi'an Jiaotong University because she practices Falun Gong. It was the fourth time that Ms. Wang was arrested. Mr. Yang tried to get his wife back many times, but was refused without a reason. In grief and indignation, he wrote a letter calling for his wife's rescue, and found people to help him to send his letter to the Minghui/Clearwisdom website at an Internet cafe for 20 yuan.
After his wife was brutally taken away, his family lost its main financial resource. Their high-school-aged child had to drop out of school and get a job to support the family and take care of his disabled father. When a tragedy like this fell upon the most ordinary of Chinese families, the family was broken apart. Mr. Yang had nowhere to appeal. In desperation, Mr. Yang thought about the Minghui/Clearwisdom website which could speak up for him and assist him. He hoped that he could ask for support and assistance from kind-hearted people worldwide through the Minghui/Clearwisdom website. This elderly man, who was not very concerned about Falun Gong previously, and who was faithful to the CCP previously, finally chose the most basic rights of an ordinary person - calling for help. His effort, however, was ruthlessly wiped out by the CCP under the "Maintaining Advancement" movement.
Perhaps cries from the most vulnerable groups is the most likely to move people. The resonance from the depth of their hearts becomes the "sound of heaven," and that is what the CCP fears the most. This may also be the reason why the CCP is so afraid of a kind and disabled old man.
Let us read Mr. Yang Huaiyong's letter, published on the Minghui website on August 4, 2005 (Clearwisdom published the letter on August 19, 2005), and find out what the CCP is so afraid of:

Urgent Letter From Wang Xiuying's Disabled Husband, After She Was Abducted for the Fourth Time
(Clearwisdom.net)
Submitter's note: Wang Xiuying's husband is not a Dafa practitioner. Wang Xiuying's health was poor before she started practicing Dafa, so Dafa's effects on eliminating diseases and improving character were very convincing to Wang's husband. The following is a sad letter in which Wang's husband asks for urgent help. Wang Xiuying was abducted multiple times and sent to a forced labor camp twice. Then, when she was released and went back to work full time she only received unemployment pension as pay. Tan Ling, the head of the 610 Office at Xi'an Jiaotong University, and other people followed Jiang and the evil CCP to persecute Falun Gong. In the past few years, many practitioners among students and staff of the University have been abducted, sent to brainwashing classes, sent to forced labor camps, and/or forced to leave the school. Among them, the young university teacher Liu Mingkan was persecuted to death.
My wife, Wang Xiuying, is an employee at Xi'an Jiaotong University. Because she does not want to give up her belief in Falun Gong, she was abducted by a group of police from the 610 Offices of Xi'an Beilin Police Station, and Taiyi Road Police Station when she went to work on June 12, 2005. Her colleagues told me that she was carried away by the police, and that she is currently being subjected to brainwashing and mental torture at the Worker's Health Center of Chang'an County, Xi'an City. I have not had a chance to see her since she was arrested. I received harassing phone calls from the Police at Taiyi Road Police Station, and the police from Beilin Police Station. Members of the National Security Division and Taiyi Road Police Station came and knocked on my door intending to unlawfully search my home. I stopped them with strong words. I asked them, "Why did you take away my wife?" They answered, "Because she practices Falun Gong." I questioned them loudly, "What's wrong with practicing Falun Gong? Falun Gong is good for health, and what's wrong with being a good person by following the principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance"? Has she done anything bad? I will fight with my life against anyone who intends to touch my home today!" Soon a crowd gathered around us and the policemen felt so embarrassed that they ran away and left me alone.
My wife is a very nice and honest person. Just because she practices Falun Gong, she has been abducted by the police many times and sent to detention centers and forced labor camps to be brainwashed for several months. She has been physically and mentally tortured in an inhumane way. Police from the Beilin Police Station and the National Security Division have been unlawfully stalking, spying on, and threatening us by phone. Her workplace also often calls our home. She and I are both nervous and frightened. Now my family is not like a family anymore.
I am a person with a disability (I only have one arm) so that makes it's impossible to take care of my daily life. It used to be my wife who took care of the family. Now I can't even get the cooking and laundry done, not to mention household cleaning. During these years that my wife was being abducted, detained, and persecuted from time to time, I often had to buy meals from a restaurant. I am a disabled person and my family has a limited income. My child is still a high school student, but because we could not afford the tuition and school fees, our child had to drop out of school and do some part-time jobs to support the family. I still remember the Spring Festival of 2002; every family was enjoying the festival, while I was wandering around on the streets alone. There was not another person on the street. Tears came out of my eyes, dropping down silently on my face in the cold winter wind.
After my wife was taken away this time, I called her supervisor at work and said: "She went to work like every other day, and now she has disappeared and can't be found. Has she been kidnapped by gangsters! What happened?" However her supervisor said he was not aware of this!
Here, I strongly request that kind and conscientious people lend me a hand to rescue my wife!
Signed,
Wang Xiuying's husband, Yang Huaiyong
