(Clearwisdom.net) An originally saccharine Chinese song with a children's chorus and the emotional rendition of popular singers, and the namesake of a musical performance organized by the CCTV, "The Same Song" has been used by the CCP as a major tool in psychologically persecuting, torturing and brainwashing Falun Gong practitioners. Behind this seemingly benign song lies the suffering, blood, and tears of millions of Falun Gong practitioners being persecuted in Mainland China.
The Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong is not only brutal, but also deceitful. Every Falun Gong practitioner who has been detained in a prison, labor camp, or brainwashing center has deeply painful memories about "The Same Song." It was synonymous with " transformation" (brainwashing) and is the humiliating reminder of a Falun Gong practitioner's reluctant acceptance of the brainwashing after tremendous physical and mental torture.
Whenever the song was heard in a prison cell, everyone knew that a Falun Gong practitioner could no longer stand the brutal beating, endless physical and verbal abuse, and other torture, and had written a statement promising to give up the practice. Many of the practitioners would cry after succumbing to the pressure against their conscience, while the police and their helpers would sing "The Same Song" to celebrate the success of the brainwashing.
Singing this song is intended to further control the minds of the Falun Gong practitioners, detailed as follows:
1. Mentally numb the brainwashed practitioners and make them forget the excruciating pain and suffering they went though
Falun Gong practitioners in China have gone through varying degrees of suffering; many were severely tortured or even killed. Even if a Falun Gong practitioner succumbed to the CCP's brainwashing and pressure during illegal detention, after being released, he would still expose the brutality of the CCP, which is what the CCP fears the most. So this seemingly beautiful song was used as anesthesia, making those who made compromises under the persecution against their conscience forget their pain and suffering.
2. Brainwashing Falun Gong practitioners so that they submit both physically and mentally
The main purpose of this song is to mentally control those who have been persecuted. The lyrics can be used to confuse the minds of people under a tightly controlled, closed environment. That's why those who are persecuted are required to sing as soon as they first give in, as well as during group activities. The frequent singing of this song reinforces its effect.
The lyrics of “The Same Song” can be very misleading. For example, after the persecution began in 1999, countless Falun Gong practitioners’ families were broken up. They were forced to leave their homes; some even died from starvation and hypothermia. However, these awful experiences were described as “Flowers have told me what you went through” by the dictatorship who caused the tragedies in the first place.
The CCP has been defaming peaceful and kind Falun Gong practitioners with demonizing propaganda. Many Chinese have thus harbored misunderstandings about and hatred towards Falun Gong, even participation in the persecution. The perpetrators then said in “The Same Song” that “the earth knows every corner in your heart.”
Many practitioners were fired, forced to divorce their spouses, fined, detained, tortured, or even killed for upholding their faith. Their ordeal was depicted in the song as “no one will miss the sweet dream.”
As soon as the persecuted practitioners gave in, the perpetrators who beat and cursed them would start to sing and smile at them, as if everything the practitioners went through was to “Welcome this moment of joyous gathering.”
Such misleading lyrics can make some people feel that the suffering they went through was justified as they joined the CCP in singing “The Same Song.” Some victims might even think, “The persecution is right, the torture is warranted. If I didn’t suffer from the persecution, how could I experience the joy of this new life, singing together with the police?” Anyone with a rational mind can see this is a distorted mentality derived from brutal torture. This is the purpose of the CCP’s brainwashing.
3. Hide the persecution, fake peace and prosperity, brainwash Falun Gong practitioners and the entire Chinese populace
On July 22, 1999, the CCP announced the persecution of Falun Gong. In 2000, CCTV began producing a music series named "The Same Song," which was broadcast live every Friday evening, and "The Same Song" was used as the theme song at the end. While brutally persecuting innocent Chinese people, the CCP created an illusion of peace and prosperity, isolating the common people from the painful moans and cries of those persecuted. Enriching people's lives is not wrong; however, since the persecution of Falun Gong began, because the entire machinery of government revolved around the persecution, large amounts of national capital were consumed, resulting in more and more severe social conflicts. Many workers lost their jobs, peasants lost their land, and children had no schools to attend.
The glamour of the music stars and the exuberant cheers from the audience were a stark contrast from the torture and abuse Falun Gong practitioners went through. During detention at a prison, labor camp, or brainwashing center, the practitioners are rarely allowed to watch anything but news on CCTV, programs slandering Falun Gong, or "The Same Song." The persecutors want to destroy the will of the practitioners who are suffering because of their faith in "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance," force them to compromise, and use the program "The Same Song" to brainwash them in order to control them. The audience of "The Same Song" don't know that when they are enjoying the performances, they themselves are being used as actors.
When beauty is used by an evil force, the evil force will not cease to be evil because of the beauty. It only makes it easier to achieve evil goals. People of the world, do not be deceived by this camouflage and be used by the evil.
