(Clearwsidom.net) Between July 1999 to December, 2005, twenty-seven Falun Gong practitioners died as a result of the persecution in the Jinzhou area. The first 14 (51.8%) died from arrest, detention, or abusive treatment under the persecution, including some who had died later at home. The other 13 died unexpectedly due to the recurrence of former illnesses after suffering prolonged mental trauma including extortion, high-pressure threats, multiple arrests and other mental torment.
Tables 1 and 2 represent the death distribution by age and gender category. About 70% of the deaths in general were of those who were 45 years old or older and, of these, 84.6% died from the recurrence of former illnesses as a result of the persecution. Fifty-seven percent (57%) of practitioners died directly from persecution. Among 27 deaths, 74% were women. The results show that more deaths occurred in women or in older age (45+ years old) group.

As we can see from Table 3, three of the 14 deaths occurred at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, two at the Jinzhou Detention Center, one at the Liaoning Province Women's Prison, and one, a practitioner from outside of the region, at the Jinzhou Nashan Prison, a total of seven deaths. The forced labor camps and prisons were the places where the most severe persecution took place. The Masanjia Forced Labor Camp was the worst. One practitioner died in 1999 during a hunger strike; one died while appealing for Falun Gong in 2000; two died from abuse in a brainwashing class and the last three died from arrest, detention, and torture.
Police and personnel from the Justice Department are heavily involved in all aspects of this persecution. The police department, the local police station, the residential community officials, the courts, the procuratorates, the judicial bureaus, the department of corrections and the prisons all participated systematically to persecute Falun Gong Practitioners.
The Jinzhou City ruling Communist Regime, the Jinzhou Political and Judiciary Committee, the Jinzhou Education-through-labor Committee, the Jinzhou 610 Office, the Jinzhou National Security Bureau and the National Safety Team have been participants in this persecution.
The majority of Falun Gong Practitioners experienced persecution by local police or police station authorities through extortion, high-pressure threats, multiple arrests and severe mental abuse. As a result, some of them had their former illnesses return. Due to the information blockade, we were not able to collect more detailed data. The actual number of deaths is believed to be higher than twenty-seven.
