(Clearwisdom.net) In past Clearwisdom articles, I read about a lot of practitioners in Mainland China who mentioned how their own attachments created difficulties and how they had become laid back in bringing salvation to sentient beings. I noticed that I had similar problems, but when I couldn't find my attachments right away I let that thought go without looking deeper.
Later I became a technician and had to work away from home quite often. I started neglecting my family somewhat, and the evil took advantage of the situation, creating a lot of conflict for me with my elder sister. I always took it all in and tolerated it, thus falling onto the path that the old forces intended.
But thankfully, after numerous group Fa studies and reminders from practitioners, I understood that cultivating the heart is the most important thing, and I truly understood the importance of harmonizing with my family. In a practitioner's article, "What I Saw Recently with my Celestial Eye: Taking the Righteous Path in Cultivation" (http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2006/3/6/70554.html), the author reminded everyone that the truest state of our cultivation is reflected in our family lives. After reading it, I realized that I had walked away from the righteous path of cultivation, and I immediately adjusted my mindset.
I first calmed myself down, studied the Fa calmly, and started to look after my family's needs. I was then able to pinpoint many of my attachments and rid myself of them. My relationship with my older sister improved. I felt that I was becoming more stable and my enlightenment quality was improving. During this time, I realized that my lack of compassion toward my family was due to my strong reliance on my family and always seeking others to take care of me, instead of the other way around. I realized that my attachment to my boyfriend and lack of enthusiasm toward bringing salvation to sentient beings all originated from this selfishness. These are my obstacles to being more diligent.
