(Clearwisdom.net) Master said in Teaching the Fa in Canada, 2006:
"From my perspective, being your master, I think your improvement is the most important, but that doesn't mean that as you improve a smooth path is in store for you. Say you went up to the heavens with a lot of karma and were hauling along a huge load of baggage (audience laughs), how could that be permitted? I have to set up certain tests for you and have you let go of those attachments of yours, have you get rid of all that baggage. As you go through one test after another, you are to continually shed your attachments and human thinking, and you won't be able to carry those things into the various tests [and still pass them].
When I read this in Fa-study, I was deeply touched. I recalled a dream where Master gave me hints on how to get rid of my fundamental attachments after I obtained the Fa.
Eight or nine years ago, in my dream, a fellow practitioner and I went to a restroom after we finished practicing in a park. At that time, public restrooms in Beijing were very dirty. However, this restroom was very clean. The restroom had about a dozen toilet bowls sitting in a line and there were no blocking boards among them. Every toilet was very clean. I was wondering why this restroom was so clean. In my dream, I was always standing at the doorway and watching. I saw that every person held a white plastic bag in front of his chest with his two hands after he finished using the toilet. However, the bag was not translucent and was filled up with something and tied. It looked like a bag of flour weighing seven or eight pounds. There was a big basket beside the wall containing many such white plastic bags. There was a door near the basket. Through the door, I saw pavilions and grasslands, where many people played happily. At that time, I felt I would go into a more wonderful place if I went through that door and it looked like a fairyland to me. It seemed there was a rule that you had to put down the bag first and then go through the door to enter that wonderful world. I saw that many people wandered in the restroom and hesitated in putting down their bags. Some of them were about to bend their waists and put their bags into the basket, but straightened up and tried to find a safer place to put the bags. However, everyone wanted to go through the door. Because the door to the fairyland was open, people in the restroom could see the beautiful scene in the fairyland. Therefore, they were very anxious and kept hanging around. They were reluctant to put down the bags in their hands. Later, I realized that they were holding trash dislodged from their bodies. So, every toilet was very clean. Later, I just called that white plastic bag that I saw the "big trash baggage."
I can recall this dream clearly even today. I realize that my own attachments seem to be the "big trash baggage" that I hold. Because I could not see through their filthy nature (because it was covered with a white plastic bag), I regarded them as my very precious things. Sometimes, I even regarded them as treasures and was afraid to lose them. And then, I did not let them go quickly. Some persons also tried to get rid of them, but they only wanted to get rid of them temporarily and they would come back to find them later. Therefore, they kept putting them down and taking them back up. They kept finding safer places to put them. They worried that they might not find their trash bags after they came back.
The implication of this dream was very profound and clear. I think that we true practitioners should ask ourselves what is in our own "big trash baggage" we drag around and whether we can truly eliminate it.
