Father Feng Chi-wood, former Member of Hong Kong's Legislative Council (MLC) thinks that the Chinese Communist regime's harvesting of human organs is against humanity, dignity and human rights and it is a nation's shame and scandal. (The Epoch Times)

After reading the independent investigative report by former Canadian MP Mr David Kilgour and renowned international human rights lawyer Mr. David Matas, Father Feng Chi-wood - former Member of Hong Kong's Legislative council - said that he is confident of the credibility of this report. He said: "These two men come from a professional background and I agree with their analysis."

Father Feng Chi-wood pointed out that this report further verifies that the Chinese Communist regime is indeed carrying out a brutal persecution of Falun Gong, "therefore I infer that an atrocity against human values, human dignity and human rights is truly happening in China, that is, stealing of human organs? This is a horrifying revelation that I cannot accept."

Investigation Team Should be Sent into China

Father Feng Chi-wood expressed support for an independent investigation team into China for further investigations. He also urged the communist regime to open up all labor camps, prisons and facilities etc, where Falun Gong practitioners are illegally detained, to allow the investigation teams to conduct investigations and collate evidence. "As a government and leader of a nation, under the premise of safeguarding its citizen's welfare, the Chinese communist regime should not be afraid to let anyone conduct an investigation if it has not done anything shady."

Father Feng said that Canadian investigation report has definitely dealt a heavy blow to the Chinese communist regime because the report has verified that the regime is harvesting and trading in human organs and this is a nation's scandal and shame. He hopes that through this incident, the Chinese authorities will realize that it must improve on the human rights situation in China: "It is not enough just to be able to feed the people and ensure their livelihood. There are other matters such as human dignity, freedom etc. A government should not strip its people of the most basic human rights."

He thinks this report is a good beginning. "I believe that very soon other groups and international organizations would follow suit, carry out an in depth investigation into this matter and demand that the Chinese Communist regime resolve this matter". He also said that this report is very influential, "it can verify this matter [human organ harvesting by the Chinese communist regime] and strengthen people's belief that this is indeed happening. I believe this is an important step taken by independent, professional individuals and very soon there will be more specific responses. International organizations will join in this investigation. I think this is something the Chinese government cannot avoid."

Worse than Genocide

In the opinion of Feng Chi-wood, the incident of organ harvesting is not only a crime of genocide, "because it involves the taking of human lives and removing human organs, to a certain degree, it is even more serious than genocide. Why? Firstly, it involves monetary gain. Secondly, it is targeted at a religious problem not a political problem. Of course even if it is on the basis of a political problem, it is unacceptable. But it is even more unacceptable for a religious problem because it is not aimed at one's personal benefit. It is because you cannot accept an individual's religious belief, that's why it is even more serious."

Father Feng Chi-wood hopes that more people will show concern for the organ harvesting crimes committed by the Chinese Communist regime. He said: "This is not only a persecution of the minorities, nor is it a persecution of Falun Gong followers. It is a problem of how a nation (political regime) deals with its people, human rights and the laws. Today a group of people are persecuted. Subsequently others will also be persecuted. Human values cannot be depreciated to such an extent that humans are treated like commodities with total disregard for the law. This is not something that a government can act willfully." He urged Beijing to respond to this problem actively and not avoid or cover up the matter.

As a member of the religious circle, Father Feng Chi-wood thinks that at present, the situation of religious followers in China is still precarious, "therefore those who are smart should not only help those in the same religion. They should also help other religious followers. Everyone should have the freedom to pursue their own belief. These rights should be upheld and it is also upholding one's own rights to religious freedom."
