(Clearwisdom.net) I obtained the Fa in 1998. After the start of the persecution, I was imprisoned illegally for four years and released in 2005. Since I was not in a good state of cultivation, beginning at the end of 2005 I strengthened my Fa study method by reciting the Fa. However, for quite some time, whenever I ran into problems, I did not search inside to check whether there were any problems within myself.
When I recited Zhuan Falun for the second time, I came to the part where it said:
"You're a practitioner. Shouldn't you follow a higher standard? You shouldn't go by the criteria that ordinary people go by."
This sentence immediately awakened me--why for such a long period of time did I not require myself to follow a higher standard when I faced problems? Instead, I fell into the ordinary people's way and measured myself against the principles of ordinary people. There is nothing coincidental on our path of cultivation, so why did I not use the higher standard to measure everything?
After realizing that I was wrong, whenever I ran into problems again I would think: "I am a cultivator, I should require myself to follow the higher level principles, and I should also check inside to see what attachments I have that led to this problem." Only after studying the Fa for such a long period of time did I finally realize that I should learn to check inside. I felt really ashamed of myself. "Searching inward during conflicts" seemed to me to be empty talk before. It is I myself who did not study the Fa well. In Zhuan Falun in the first lecture it says:
"So what I just talked about are the two reasons why doing cultivation exercises doesn't increase your gong: you have no way to cultivate if you don't know the Law at high levels, and if you don't cultivate inward, if you don't cultivate your character, your gong won't increase."
It is the principle of Dafa that balanced my unbalanced mind. It is so important that we study the Fa attentively.
