(Clearwisdom.net) With the help of practitioners, the Amnesty International (AI) group at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington recently sponsored an information booth on the persecution of Falun Dafa in China. The booth was located in the university library.
Jessica, president of AI on the campus, passed out fliers for 2 hours, telling everyone that passed by about the persecution. She encouraged many people to sign a petition asking the local congressman to co-sponsor House Resolution 610 and to boycott the Olympics if the human rights situation does not improve. Jessica said she feels a boycott of the Olympics would send a big message to China: "Human rights abuses will not be tolerated." She said the CCP must be held accountable for their actions. For 2 hours straight, the young lady told everyone who passed her by about the live organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners in China.
As students poured into the library, conversations about organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners in China and boycotting the Olympics filled the air. The students were shocked to learn about the persecution and organ harvesting. Many students offered support and sympathy for the practitioners in China. Students said they would definitely boycott the Olympics if the persecution does not stop.
Melissa, the Vice President of AI on the campus, came by to help pass out fliers. Melissa said that the persecution must stop.
Students who came by the information booth were also currently studying about China in their classes. They were very interested in reading the "Nine Commentaries."
One older gentleman commented on how peaceful the Falun Gong group is. Some students had seen practitioners peaceful protests around the world, from New Zealand to New York. One young lady said she had just moved from New York and had often seen practitioners handing out fliers and holding anti-torture exhibitions on the streets of New York, but she never stopped to talk with practitioners and thus did not fully understand why they so persistently held these activities. She was glad to learn more and said that she hoped the persecution would soon end.
