(Clearwisdom.net) For the first time, I have clearly seen my fundamental attachment. It turned out that my fundamental attachment was to achieve a healthy and ill-free body, be good-looking, and have good fortune in the human world through cultivating Falun Dafa. In other words, I attempted to use Falun Dafa as a means to achieve a happy human life and satisfy my vanity.
Because of this fundamental attachment, I paid special attention to the changes in my body after I started practicing. I would feel satisfied if my body went in a "healthier" direction and worried when it became "worse." I think that is why my health deteriorated after I started cultivating Falun Dafa. I often begged Teacher to help me improve my health.
Although I also do the Three Things, they were merely a formality, like I was doing them to show our Teacher that I was improving myself and cultivating. Oftentimes, I finished a "duty" so I could feel at peace to enjoy an ordinary person's life.
Teacher said:
"...cultivation practice requires non-action, emptiness, and intentional cultivation without the intention of attainment." ("Lecture in Sydney").
My enlightenment quality was too poor, and I never measured myself with the Fa. So-called good fortune cannot be achieved through seeking. It is also true for cultivators. Cultivators must get rid of attachments. How could a cultivator upgrade themselves with such a strong mentality of pursuit? From another perspective, the physical body bestowed to disciples by Falun Dafa during Fa-rectification is for them to study the Fa well, do the exercises, clarify the truth, save sentient beings, validate the Fa, and complete the historic duty of Falun Dafa practitioners. It is not for them to enjoy life as a human. These fundamental attachments are what are blocking some of us in genuinely cultivating Falun Dafa.
