(Clearwisdom.net) On December 18, 2003, Jingzhong Prison in Shanxi Province created a "transformation" group, intending to force Mr. Zhang Jian to give up practicing Falun Gong. There were a total of nine participants in the group, including Lu Yaozhong, Zhang Weidong, Liu Jinsheng, Li Zhigang, Han Xiaoming, and Lu Yaozhong, the group leader.
When a guard ordered Mr. Zhang to write "transformation" statements declaring his rejection of Falun Gong, Zhang answered, "I won't write it. If anything, I will write that I promise to continue practicing Falun Gong." In response, the officer said, "If you refuse to 'reform,' we'll 'transform' you by force." The guard gave up the interrogation and proceeded to beat Mr. Zhang savagely.
The torture of Mr. Zhang lasted four days, from December 18 to 22. He was removed from his cell every morning at 6:30 a.m. and was returned to his cell between two to three o'clock the following morning. The guards hung him in chains and beat him brutally with electric and rubber batons. After realizing they were failing to move Mr. Zhang's heart, they tortured him without mercy and began to yell as they beat him. They thrust a baton into his mouth and even put the electric baton on his genitals. While torturing him, they shook their fists and shouted, "Use the law to break the law. Let the punishment commence!" Among these guards, Li Zhiqiang and Han Xiaoming were the most atrocious, assisting in persecuting Mr. Zhang on every occasion. Mr. Zhang fell into unconsciousness several times during this ordeal, and two of his ribs were broken. Despite this, he refused to write a single word against his firm belief in Falun Gong.
After he survived the brutal treatment in this lair of evil, personnel from the 610 Office kept a close watch on him. A villain even stayed in Mr. Zhang's home and monitored his every move, 24 hours a day. He later left, but several police officers continued to stay outside of his residence.
