Mr. Cong Guoyou and his wife Ms. Cui Shengyun were arrested one month ago. Their two daughters have been looking for their parents every day since.
Officers from the Jiamusi City Security Bureau in Heilongjiang Province arrested Mr. Cong Guoyou and Ms. Cui Shengyun on May 19, 2007. They secretly followed Cui Shengyun two days prior, on May 17, 2007. They arrested her at 9:00 a.m. on May 19, 2007, and took her to the Security Bureau.
In the afternoon, Mr. Cong was on his way home with his five year-old daughter when the officers approached him and started beating him in front of the little girl. The police ignored the child's heart-wrenching cries and protests from the crowd. Instead, they put a black bag over Cong Guoyou's head, pushed him into a car and drove off.
They also ransacked Cong Guoyou's home and took valuables including a computer.
Cong Guoyou and Cui Shengyun were taken away over a month ago. Their two children tearfully seek their parents on a daily basis. Their relatives have requested the parents' release many times, but the authorities at Jiamusi City Security Bureau refused without giving any explanation. The older daughter is about to drop out of school, and the younger daughter requires parental care.
