(Clearwisdom.net) On July 21, 2007, at 4:00 p.m., Falun Gong practitioners in Peru gathered outside the Chinese Embassy to protest the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP's) persecution of Falun Gong, which has persisted for eight years. They also commemorated fellow practitioners who have died as a result of the persecution in China. Practitioners wore white flowers on their chests and solemnly paid silent tribute for five minutes to their fellow practitioners who have died. After doing the sitting meditation for 45 minutes, the practitioners sent forth righteous thoughts. After that, they demonstrated the five sets of Falun Gong exercises and then lit candles to pay silent tribute for another five minutes.

According to incomplete statistics, and verified by civil channels, over the past eight years since July 20, 1999, 3,067 Falun Gong practitioners have died as a result of the persecution. At least 6,000 practitioners have been illegally sentenced. More than a hundred thousand practitioners have been sentenced to forced labor. Thousands of practitioners have been forced into mental hospitals where they have been tortured with forced administration of drugs that damage their central-nervous systems.
The CCP has used over a hundred methods to torture Falun Gong practitioners. The highest percentage of their targets have been middle-aged women and elderly practitioners. In March 2006, the shocking news was revealed that the CCP has even harvested organs from living Falun Gong practitioners for profit. These allegations have been investigated and verified.
Falun Gong was publicly introduced in Peru in 2000. On July 20 each year, practitioners in Peru commemorate fellow practitioners who have died as a result of the persecution. The practitioners also call for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong.
