(Clearwisdom.net) Recently, a petition launched under the direction of the Chinese Consulate in New York by the Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) of New York University has attracted much attention. The petition aims to obstruct the first International Chinese Classical Dance Competition hosted by New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV). For a while now, the Dance Competition has been the main focus of the "suppress and attack" policy carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Chinese Communist regime. Due to the independent and outspoken nature of NTDTV and its long-term concern for the human rights situation in China, including the human rights of Falun Gong practitioners, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has exerted its utmost and tried again and again to attack and suppress NTDTV. When NTDTV first announced that it would host an international Chinese classical dance competition in 2007, Chinanews.com published a letter from the Chinese Anti-Cult Association to the Chinese Dance Association, defaming NTDTV and its dance competition to the greatest extent. As early as April 30, 2007, xinhuanet.com also published an article to slander NTDTV's International Chinese Dance Competition. Now as the dance competition is about to start, the CCP has turned to instigating the CSSA to obstruct the event.
In fact, it is no longer a secret that the CCP controls the CSSA overseas. Especially since 1999 when the persecution of Falun Gong started, the CCP has used, threatened, and coerced the CSSA in its attempt to sabotage Falun Gong's legitimate activities. Some CSSA members, threatened and coerced by the CCP, have become spies. They carry out the political tasks assigned to them by the Chinese embassy or consulates, inciting hatred against Falun Gong among students who do not know the facts and thus exporting the persecution overseas. The CCP then uses its mouthpiece, Xinhua News Agency, to "import back what they had exported earlier" to confuse people in China and intensify the persecution in China. I would like to cite three cases of the CSSA being controlled by the CCP to expose how it instigates overseas Chinese students to persecute Falun Gong.
Operating behind the scenes: hiding behind and instigating students to disrupt and try to discredit the truth
On May 24, 2007, a forum entitled "New Genocide in China" was held the University of Chicago University. Renowned Canadian human rights attorney Mr. David Matas; Dr. Kirk Allison, Director of the Program in Human Rights and Health, the University of Minnesota; and Zhang Erping, Executive Director of the Association for Asian Research, all spoke at the forum about the illegal harvesting of organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. About 100 people attended the forum and what was discussed aroused great concerns among the attendees about human rights issues in China.
Just before the forum started, however, a few young Chinese students distributed flyers to the audience, saying "There is no such thing as organ harvesting from live Falun Gong practitioners; it is a lie." When Falun Gong practitioners tried to stop them and to clarify the facts to them, they simply refused to listen and angrily berated the practitioners. Behind these few students was a man standing nearby, observing all this in silence. When a practitioner took out a camera, the students did not seem to care at all, while this man immediately started to hide. What was strange was that after this man had left and practitioners asked the students to go to the police station to report their behavior, the students immediately lost their air of "arrogance" and ran away, as if they had accomplished a task. Later a security guard from the university stood at the entrance of the forum. When a few Chinese students saw him, they looked scared. They later came up and asked the security guard why he had come to stand guard at the forum. It appeared that they had planned to make big trouble, but later they all left quietly and never came near the forum.
A practitioner who was there and experienced the entire incident said, "I feel very sorry for the few young students who were making trouble. They did not have a chance to learn the facts about Falun Gong, and in the face of such an evil practice of live organ harvesting, they not only appeared unconcerned but were also willing to be used by the CCP and its agents. On the one hand, they perform for the CCP, on the other hand they hate Falun Gong for no reason due to their ignorance. They are very pitiful. Furthermore, they acted very cowardly. They ran away with a guilty conscience before facing the police".
Causing trouble, instigating students to fight with Falun Gong
The election for president of the CSSA at the University of Minnesota in February 2004 was a typical example. As it turned out to be a farce directly manipulated by the Chinese Consulate, the event attracted a great deal of attention among the local Chinese community at the time. Afterwards, nine students resigned, and the university carried out an investigation after receiving numerous complaints. You Yunqing, former CSSA president and a democracy activist, and Wang Xiaodan, candidate for the position, recalled what happened.
According to You Yunqing, the CCP consulate controls over 60 student associations and directly assigns them political tasks to "fight against Falun Gong." They instigate students who oppose Falun Gong to be CSSA presidents, sending CCP agents to take root in US universities; they also put money into the private accounts of these student leaders, telling them to use the money to hire students to participate in welcoming activities when Chinese leaders come to visit the US.
You Yunqing was the CSSA president at the University of Minnesota between 2002 and 2003 and a standing committee member in 2004. According to him, on January 26, 2004, Cheng Jiacai from the education group of the Chinese Consulate-General in Chicago, and Jiang Bo, Consul of the education group, invited more than ten student standing committee members to dinner, including two Falun Gong practitioners, Wang Xiaodan and Chi Xuedong. You Yunqing said that Jiang Bo was the Culture Councilor especially responsible for the suppression of and attacks on Falun Gong. He asked everybody's name and background, including how their Chinese names were written, which Chinese university they had graduated from, their home address in China, their parents, and if they planned to go back to China in the future. He took detailed records of what the students said.
According to You Yunqing, after Wang Xiaodan and Chi Xuedong left, Cheng Jiacai started to attack Falun Gong and said that the students should not have anything to do with Falun Gong and that they should also take initiatives to attack Falun Gong. He said, "If Falun Gong holds any activity at your university, you should protest and demonstrate against it. While in the US, you can only rely on the Chinese consulate; if something happens to you in the US, only the consulate can represent you."
Wang Xiaodan said, "Everybody knows I practice Falun Gong, so those from the Chinese Consulate never said much when I was present. They always played tricks behind my back." On the day of the election, Wang Xiaodan was competing against a student called Li Ming. More than one hundred students suddenly turned up, a number much bigger than in previous years. When Li Ming gave his speech, he said, "Falun Gong is trying to control the CSSA." When it was Wang Xiaodan's turn to speak, some students created a disturbance. When a student who did not practice Falun Gong voted for Wang Xiaodan, she was attacked on the spot, and was labeled as the most deeply hidden Falun Gong element in the CSSA. Li Ming was eventually elected president of the CSSA. Prior to the election, he once said that the reason he had stepped forward was to prevent Wang Xiaodan from being elected, because Wang Xiaodan practiced Falun Gong.
You Yunqing said, "I was surprised that all of a sudden more than one hundred people turned up. Normally you could hardly expect so many people, even if they came for a movie. Former president Zhang Xiaowu resigned, and Li Ming jumped in all of a sudden. All this was arranged by the Chinese Consulate. The night before the election, the Chinese Consulate called each of the committee members of the CSSA."
He said, "Many student leaders told him that they still had families in China and they didn't want them to be implicated."
You Yunqing said that he voted for Wang Xiaodan at the election, because she had been a committee member for two years and was always happy to do things for others and provided a lot of help and service for students.
"Li Ming did not do much in the association. He was a deputy president a year before I became the president. There were a group of them who had for a long time controlled the position of president. The association was a small circle at that time. They took turns being president, one year this one, the next year another one. They all had direct contact with the Chinese Consulate. After I became the president, they all left and didn't come back."
"This time, Li Ming jumped in, because he was chosen by the Chinese Consulate for his opposition to Falun Gong. The election result was a political one, not the one expected by the wide community of the students."
Wang Xiaodan said that at the election, a few students created a disturbance and used foul language. "Their conduct could not possibly have been that of university students who came overseas to study through a proper examination system. They behaved more like street thugs back in China. I was really surprised that we had such people in the University of Minnesota."
Later, Wang Xiaodan heard from others that those individuals had loafed on campus for a long time, changing from one subject to another and never graduating. The Chinese Consulate had assigned those people to take root in various universities especially to carry out their tasks. They give them money to keep them engaged in agent activities. You Yunqing said, "I also heard that the Chinese Consulate assigned one or two members in each student association to carry out agent activities under their directions."
Coercion: Using family relations to threaten presidents of overseas student associations
If the University of Chicago and the University of Minnesota are two main targets of control by the Chinese Consulate, because there are a lot of Chinese students in these two universities due to their geographical locations, then how does the Chinese Consulate control those in remote areas with fewer Chinese students?
Mr. Xu, a Falun Gong practitioner and former deputy president of the CSSA at Florida Atlantic University (FAU), recalled his experience in 1999 after the persecution of Falun Gong started: "Because I was the deputy president of the CSSA, I knew how it worked. FAU is an ordinary university in a relatively remote region and falls under the jurisdiction of the Chinese Consulate in Houston. Before 1999, the Chinese Consulate didn't care much about us and only gave us a small sum of money to organize for a movie or something like that. After 1999, however, our university was also affected.
"After 1999, I was no longer the deputy president of the CSSA, but a volunteer. I still participated in students activities very often. The students at the university all knew that I practiced Falun Gong. Because everybody trusted me and also because we often organized activities to clarify the facts about Falun Gong on campus, or maybe because we were a bit far away from the Consulate, at the beginning students at the university still got along well with us. Later, the then president of the CSSA came to see me and tried to persuade me to give up practicing Falun Gong. Of course I refused, and I also told him the facts about Falun Gong. In the end he said awkwardly, 'If you don't want to give it up, then I have to report you to the Chinese Consulate in Houston. They are asking me for names.'
"From then on, even though we used to be good friends, he always looked awkward when he met me. For example, Falun Gong practitioners applied to participate in the International Students' Festival and were permitted to demonstrate the Falun Gong exercises on stage. When this president heard about this, he acted as if he were facing a formidable enemy. He went to see the university and event organizers several times to create discord, trying to prevent us from participating. He even said, 'You are doing this because you don't want to go back to China any more, but I still have loved ones in China and I still want to go back. They said if I don't do things this way, I will be implicated as well. I can only free myself from trouble by reporting you.' I understood that 'they' were those in the Chinese Consulate who had directly threatened him. They were really disgusting, threatening innocent students by implicating their families back in China and their futures in order to persecute Falun Gong.
"What made me feel happy was that, due to the efforts of Falun Gong practitioners, not only did we get to demonstrate the exercises on stage, we were also given a booth to promote Falun Gong. The event was a big success, and the university was also very happy with our activities. They clearly indicated that we were welcome to participate every year. Before I graduated from the university, one of the student leaders who was also involved in trying to stop our exercise demonstration came to see me and apologized to me and other local Falun Gong practitioners.
"After I graduated from the university, I moved to Chicago. When I applied for a visa extension, a consul named Ye Tai from the Chinese Consulate in Chicago called me and asked me if I had come from FAU. They later refused to extend my visa for no valid reason. From this, we can see that the then president of the CSSA indeed collected information on practitioners and reported it to the Chinese Consulate."
From this example, we can see that behind the superficial money and titles, those who have reduced themselves to being the CCP's spies have to pay heavily in the end. The pressure from the sinister threats and from betraying their conscience have made many people lose their senses. Isn't this how it is for secret agents of the CCP?
Calling upon overseas Chinese students to say "No" to the CCP
Just as Wang Xiaodan said, "A student association should be like a home to offer services and help to the students, but it is now manipulated by the Chinese Consulates and has become a secret agent organization that buys students with the money it gets from the Chinese Consulate. Sadly, some students blindly follow the CCP. It is very sad and lamentable. I hope the Chinese students can see this fact clearly and get away from these wrong ideas, so that they can breathe the fresh air of freedom and live a life filled with sunlight. They should not only learn scientific knowledge in the US, but also civilized ideas and the ability to independently tell right from wrong."
One student from Texas A & M University, who did not want to reveal his name, joined the group to welcome Jiang Zemin when he visited the US. He said, "I got $35 dollars and a free lunch, as well as a free raincoat to welcome (Jiang) in the rain. But many of my friends and I really admired the Falun Gong practitioners standing opposite us. I felt very envious of their manners and their yellow raincoats. Later, I refused to participate in such activities. I said to the president of the student association, 'Don't you have plenty of people to "welcome" Jiang?' He knew what I meant and only gave me a forced smile. Later I said to him half jokingly, 'Look at the Falun Gong practitioners opposite us. They all have yellow raincoats. How wonderful they look. Look at the red raincoats the Chinese Consulate gave us, the color came off in the rain and even dyed my clothes. It is such poor quality. How can I come next time?' Later, this student clearly said that we could see even from the quality of a raincoat who would laugh in the end. I will never participate in such activities again."
Listening to both sides, one will know better. As young overseas students who can breathe the air of freedom, one should be able to see even more clearly the evil nature of the CCP, should learn about the true traditional culture of China's five thousand years of civilization, love one's country, but not the CCP, and demonstrate the real charisma of Chinese youth to the world. The "International Chinese Classical Dance Competition" hosted by NTDTV is the continuation of the brilliance of China's traditional culture and another magnificent undertaking to lead the world to return to the orthodox culture that belongs to mankind, and a further step in leading mankind in rectifying their human hearts. It helps people understand what kind of culture mankind should have after the CCP is disintegrated. Therefore, we say that the "International Chinese Classical Dance Competition" is the Qiming Star (Chinese equivalent to Venus in ancient times) as we are about to step into the the new era of human culture.
The CCP is only accelerating its own destruction by so shamelessly using and instigating young overseas students who do not know the facts. If Chinese students still cannot breathe the air of freedom after they have come overseas and are used by those hidden secrets agents in student associations, isn't that a real shame? I suggest that every fine student with a conscience bravely says "No" to the CCP. Please do not act as their cannon fodder and lose your chance for a better life at the last moment when heaven destroys the CCP.
