(Clearwisdom.net) On July 21, 2007, at the famous Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Falun Gong practitioners held an Information Day to raise awareness about the 8-year brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China.
Many people signed the practitioners' petition to call for an end to the persecution
Though the weather forecast projected poor conditions, the sun shone from the beginning to the end of the event. As soon as the information booth was set up, passersby stopped to learn about the persecution.
The Brandenburg Gate is located in the center of Berlin and once separated East and West Berlin before the Berlin Wall was torn down. The Gate is now a symbol of Berlin, attracting countless tourists from all over the world. At the information site, the practitioners clarified the truth to tourists in German, Chinese, English and Russian. During the event, almost every passing-by tourists accepted Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials and some read the practitioners' truth-clarifying posters. Among them, many were Chinese tourists.
Whenever Chinese tourists passed by, the practitioners tried their best to clarify the truth or at least hand them a copy of leaflets and the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. Though some Chinese tourists appeared to have reservations or even fear due to the influence of the Communist Party, some youngsters were very interested and took many photos of the practitioners' posters and banners.
During the event, the practitioners also told people about the Human Rights Torch Relay project initiated by the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG). In an open letter, CIPFG requested the Chinese Communist regime to stop the persecution of Falun Gong immediately. As the regime has not responded to the CIPFG, the organization is planning to light up the torch in Athens on August 9. Many tourists and local residents were very interested in this project and wanted to learn more. There were also many people who signed the practitioners' petition calling for an end to the persecution.
During the event, the practitioners noticed a significant change: When the practitioners held their first Information Day event several years ago, people in general were not sure what to do and many didn't even dare to come close the booth. Today, people come directly to the practitioners and ask questions about the practice of Falun Gong and why Falun Gong is being persecuted. People often say that the atrocities committed by the CCP against Falun Gong should not be allowed to continue and that the Olympic Games should not be held in China if the atrocities continue.
