(Clearwisdom.net) The Divine Performing Arts of New York presented the Chinese New Year Spectacular at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 21, 2008.
Artist Randy Soard
Randy Soard is an artist, and is associated with a group called "Nevada Arts Advocates." This group educates school children and encourages them to participate in music and the fine arts.
Mr. Soard especially liked the Mongolian Bowl Dance. He also thought that the choreography of the drumming was good, as well as the special effects. He remarked that the costumes were beautiful, the singers were really good, and the tenor was really exceptional. "Your country has a lot of culture," he said.
He thought the orchestra was a highlight and a nice touch, because in other shows he had seen, the orchestra was missing.
He said he likes China and tried to learn the Chinese language, but was not very successful. "I am really fascinated with the Chinese culture and I think there is a lot of wisdom there. I want a lot of good things for China as does the rest of the world."
When asked about the program in which three ladies are beaten by policemen, he said, "I personally think that torture has no place in a civilized society. There is a lot of inhumanity in the world and people are not aware of it. If a country is oppressive and has no freedom of the press, people won't know what is going on."
He said, "I would love to go back to China but I would not want to be restricted in what I want to see or where I want to go. I would like to see that everybody is respectful of human rights; I think we are all entitled to certain freedoms, and all people should have the right to be free and not be oppressed. I am opposed to any government that oppresses its people and restricts them."
