(Clearwisdom.net) For a long time now, many practitioners, including myself, have formed a concept that they had a good understanding of the evolution of the cosmos, cultural and societal development, and how the future would unfold during Fa-rectification. These notions were born out of a belief in certain prophecies and legends from the past, or surmising certain excerpts from Teacher's lectures. So when we interact with people, we subconsciously talk in a different tone, as if we knew everything beforehand and others were ignorant. This will have a negative effect on people and create unnecessary obstacles for saving them. In one particular instance, practitioners were very disappointed when the Olympics had finished without any major consequences happening to the evil. We felt as if we were hurt emotionally, and this had a great impact on our saving sentient beings.
As practitioners, we should cultivate our speech and not talk frivolously about things that may or may not happen in the future. Teacher mentioned that many predictions from the prophecies had changed, and were not accurate anymore. When practitioners speak about these predictions, we are exposing our attachments to a showing-off mentality, and has resulted in many losses to the saving of sentient beings. So why do we still not pay enough attention to this issue? These losses were all born from our strong attachments to validating ourselves, and that attachment stops us from handling things rationally.
I hope that practitioners can completely rid themselves of attachments to prophecies and truly come to realize that we are all practitioners. No matter what our levels are in cultivation, we all have trials and tribulations. None of us is a sage who can see the future of the universe. We should study the Fa with a sincere heart, do things that a practitioner should do, and not let Teacher down.
This is only my limited understanding from my present level in cultivation.
