(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Ji Yongshi, 37, is a down-to-earth, kindhearted villager. In 1999, Mr. Ji went to Beijing to appeal for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong. He was arrested by officials from the Mengyin County Police Department and his hometown. Afterwards, he had to flee home to avoid further persecution.
On February 7, 2000, Mr. Ji went to Beijing for the second time. When he returned, he had to leave home again to avoid being persecuted. Hu Faming and Shi Yunduan, officials of the Taoxu Town Chinese Communist Party, arrested Mr. Ji's wife and their two-year-old son. They were detained in the Law Enforcement Agency building and the Family Planning Committee's facility for over 40 days. The belongings from their home were confiscated. Items included furniture such as a wardrobe, a kitchen cabinet, a sofa, a sewing machine, a classic style table, a small round table, several chairs, and a tea table, as well as farming equipment including a fertilizer sprayer, an iron barrel, and an iron basin, and appliances including a TV set, a cassette recorder, and an electric fan, as well as miscellaneous things which included silverware, peanut oil, gift items, etc. Even a tree near their house was cut down and taken away. Another official, Ba Xitang, attempted to disassemble the front door to their home and tear down the whole house, but neighbors with a sense of justice stopped him. Even though the officials were stopped, they continued their crimes by extorting ten thousand yuan before releasing Mr. Ji's wife and their baby son.
On August 13, 2000, Mr. Ji went to Beijing once again, but this time, he was arrested by the Tiananmen police. He was beaten to the point of becoming disfigured and had several fainting spells. Later, he was taken to the Mengyin County Detention Center and then to the brainwashing center, which was located in the county 610 Office. In November 2000, he was transferred to Wangcun Village, where he was sentenced to three years of forced labor.
At around 10:00 a.m. on August 18, 2008, four officials, including Qi Zhaohai, political instructor from the Taoxu Town Police Station, and others from the Mengyin County 610 Office, broke into Mr. Ji's home and arrested him while he was resting.
Due to Mr. Ji's refusal to cooperate with the police, Qi Zhaohai and three other police officers punched and kicked him. Then one of them twisted his arm behind his back and pulled it up. Another policeman grabbed his hair and banged his head against the wall, causing his head to bleed severely and his face to turn purple. Mr. Ji's upper torso was covered with bruises and wounds. His father, Mr. Ji Liping, tried to approach the police but was unable to help stop the violence. Qi Zhaohai kicked Mr. Ji Liping's back and pushed his head against the wall, causing him to become dizzy. After regaining his consciousness, Mr. Ji Liping tried to follow the police to stop them from taking his son, but Qi Zhaohai seized him by the throat and tried to choke him. As the police pushed Mr. Ji Liping into the police vehicle, Qi Zhaohai continued hitting his face with a rubber baton and cursing him. Since there were many neighbors and passersby on the scene, Qi Zhaohai lied to them, claiming that the father and son had attacked the police. In spite of his lies, over thirty people witnessed the evil deeds and brutality of the police.
In the interrogation room at the police station, Mr. Ji Liping was threatened and ordered to admit that he had attacked the police. But Mr. Ji Liping refused and tried to reason with them. As a result, Qi Zhaohai and other officers detained him for ten days on the charge of "hindering government business."
On the afternoon of August 19, the police took Mr. Ji Yongshi to the Mengyin County Detention Center. Because his health didn't meet the minimum requirements, the detention center refused to take him, so the police took him to the county 610 Office for detention.
On the afternoon of August 24, Qi Zhaohai and other police officers broke into the home of Mr. Ji Yongshi's elder brother. They attempted to arrest him by asking him to go with them back to the police station, claiming they needed to get his signature for Mr Ji Yongshi's release. But Mr. Ji Yongshi's elder brother saw through their evil plot and refused to go. In fact, on August 21, Mr. Ji Yongshi's family had already signed the papers, but Mr. Ji was not released.
At around noon on August 29, Qi Zhaohao broke into Mr. Ji's home again. He demanded that Mr. Ji, who was just released, go with him to the local police station. Mr. Ji Yongshi was detained for over three weeks by the county 610 Office. He was not released until September 9, when the police extorted 2,400 yuan from him without giving him a receipt.
