(Clearwisdom.net) We often find it difficult to memorize this treasured book, Zhuan Falun. In my experience, if we take it lightly and abandon our attachments, the situation would probably change.
While we are trying to memorize the Fa, many attachments arise to interfere. Many of us give up after memorizing one lecture or even half a lecture. This is a great pity.
Since we want to memorize this treasured book, in my opinion, we should memorize the whole book. But we must never memorize the Fa with attachments. We must first clear and cultivate our minds, then memorize the Fa. Every single thought and movement in our daily life should conform to the requirements of Dafa. We should not memorize with the goal of just memorizing. It is a process of assimilating to Dafa. It is a process of cultivation--cultivating our mind and body--so as to better save numerous beings. This is the true purpose of memorizing the Fa!
Why do those practitioners with little education but fewer attachments memorize the Fa so quickly? Why can't intellectuals with a high educational level do as well? I believe it is because the human mentality and various attachments block their wisdom.
I am such an intellectual. I was a schoolteacher. I majored in literature in university, and I was skilled in memorization through years of study. With this foundation and this advantage, logically speaking, memorizing Zhuan Falun should not have been difficult for me.
However, as soon as I closed my eyes, I would fall asleep. Though I was also sending righteous thoughts, it did not have much effect. I knew there was some problem in my mind, and it was time for me to really cultivate myself and look inside.
Cultivate your mind before memorizing the Fa. Memorizing the Fa is not the goal. Cultivating your mind is most important.
