(Clearwisdom.net) I am a 17-year-old practitioner attending senior high school. I have been practicing Falun Dafa for nine years. Lately, I have read many articles on the Minghui website discussing how to bring up young practitioners. When I was younger, I lost confidence in my practice and would like to share my experiences with other young practitioners.
Before the persecution began, I was in a very good environment for practitioners. Although I was not very diligent with my practice, I was well grounded in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
The games, television shows, and novels everywhere in society are bad for practitioners. In recent years a television show called "Teenagers" has become popular with young people, but I think it pollutes one's mind. It gives the impression that one can judge a person based on appearance instead of character. When I was in junior high, I was completely misled by shows like this.
The books for ordinary people generally deal with money, fame, and sex, which are quite unhealthy for children. I understand that when you want to read, watch, or play with the products of ordinary people, you are pursuing ordinary people things.
In junior high, I was interested in ordinary people's activities, which was contrary to Master's teaching. I was not able to validate the Fa. Instead, I brought disgrace to practitioners. Negative thoughts were rampant and interfered with my desire to follow the Fa. I am really ashamed of how I acted then. However, Master did not give up on me. He provided guidance on many occasions. When I finally turned around and focused on Fa study, Master helped me by removing the karma I had accumulated. I especially appreciate the use of Falun to clear my eyes. That was a wonderful feeling.
Some books and magazines published by ordinary people are very popular. I hope young practitioners learn from my mistakes and do not read them. Instead, we should spend more time studying the Fa, watch the Divine Performing Arts shows, listen to Dafa music, and get rid of any communist culture, which leads people to think that vulgar things are worthwhile.
