(Clearwisdom.net) The Divine Performing Arts (DPA) International Company performed at the San Diego Civic Theater on Saturday Dec. 27. Among the audience was former deputy mayor of San Diego Floyd Morrow.
Floyd Morrow and his wife.
Mr. Morrow was impressed with the presentation and the content of the show,
saying that the combination of the colors and music was of a high quality and
calling it a "feast for the eyes."
"The story background for the show is brought out in the movement itself.
The color and the sound blends. I think it's very great actually."
He continued, "I have seen shows from all cultures ... but I think this is
about the best that I have seen ... I just think that it's a very high level of
presentation of the culture and [presents] a rich rich background."
Being the deputy mayor of San Diego, Mr. Morrow said that he had seen hundreds
of shows and said "this is one of the best [performances] here so they
should be very proud of what they presented."
He was most intrigued by the message of compassion that the show brings, saying,
"We have got to abolish repression and we have got to abolish the idea of
war. We have a common humanity that goes back thousands of years and of course I
think that's what [the performance] is really is all about. I see it
demonstrated on stage, in the music, in the dance, and everything."
Also, he said that the show contains a universal message that every culture can
understand and can relate to, and that he was intrigued by the philosophical
aspects that are contained within the show. Furthermore, he said this added a
unique aspect to the performance.
"I think that it is unique in a sense and the best part is [how the
performance] goes way back in time. Our culture in the U.S. has only developed
for a couple hundred years and here is something that's thousands of years old
and that's unique," said Mr. Morrow.
"I think it reflects the progress that we've made as human beings. We've
made a great deal of progress and in that sense, we need to make more [progress]
in philosophy," he continued.
"We are too oriented on the material aspect of life and this [performance]
is restoring the real 'dance' that we as human beings all have and I think that's
very very important to do that."
According to Mr. Morrow, the show represents the "supreme value" that
human beings all have in common, saying that it represents "freedom and
justice, ideals that we keep trying to reach for as humans. This does a very
very fine job of bringing that out. I liked the philosophic content."
