(Clearwisdom.net) The audience embraced the Chinese New Year Splendor with enthusiasm as the performance drew to a successful close at Radio City Music Hall on February 2, 2008.
Inga Hyche, a freelance writer who works with The Seattle Medium, said, "It's the first time I've seen anything like that. It's really awesome. I felt like I was exposed to a culture that I hadn't really known about before...there is nothing else like it. Definitely we'll see it again."
"I was interested in the underlying themes--I didn't know they [the Chinese people] were not able to express their culture in their own country. I felt like we were enlightened and entertained at the same time."
Aurora, an operating room nurse from Riverview, said, "Excellent performance, excellent casting, beautiful ladies, beautiful costume! It's so nice from beginning to end, thank you for such a wonderful, wonderful performance for everybody!
Referring to "The Power of Awakening," she said, "The message about people trying to be friends with each other and returning to peace and unity is the most important thing for us living in this world, especially now that we have so much trouble. I think it's time for us to mend our differences, be kind to each other, be more understanding, and never fight with each other...It's a terrible time in China with the persecution; I hope there will be a peaceful resolution."
Alice, a retired detective said, "Beautiful show, very spiritual. The things I read about in The Bible, I can see them in the show." She said her favorite dance was "The Risen Lotus Flower," which depicts three incarcerated Falun Gong practitioners, one of whom was beaten to death and later ascended to heaven. "It reminded me of the story about Shadrach, Mesach, and Abednego; they were thrown into a furnace [for refusing to worship king Nebuchadnezzar's idol] but the fire could not touch them. I loved the colors and the beautiful outfits. It's uplifting. I love the drums! They were all very good."
