Around the time of the 17th National Conference of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), staff at the 610 Office of Jiangtai Township, Chaoyang District in Beijing harassed Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Qiu Jinrong and ordered the police to seize her.
On the morning of December 24, 2007, Li Yuhong from the Jiuxianqiao local police station, local police constable Wang Zheng from the Jiangtai police station and others intruded into Qiu Jinrong's son's home. The police snatched a computer, searched through chests and cupboards, and took Qiu Jinrong and her non-practitioner husband Xie Linquan to the Chaoyang sub-bureau police station. Later, because Mr. Xie suffers from high blood pressure and heart disease, he was released while Qiu Jinrong was imprisoned in the Chaoyang Detention Center in Beijing.
After Qiu Jinrong was arrested, her husband Xie Linquan was frightened. Mr. Xie's already poor health condition worsened because there was no one to take care of him. He called policeman Wang Zheng many times to request the release of his wife to look after him, but Wang paid no attention to his requests.
