(Clearwisdom.net) Between May 5 and 9, 2008, the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist regime became a focal point during Human Rights Week events at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).
The Human Rights Week was hosted by Amnesty International, UCSD. Members of the Falun Gong club were invited to display an information booth and distribute pamphlets, amidst the busiest location of activities. On Wednesday night, three practitioners of Falun Gong were invited to attend the "Forum on Human Rights in China", and address the audience with regard to the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong. Chinese and Western people from within and outside of the university began heated discussions on the topic.
Representatives from the Falun Gong club at UCSD introduced to the audience what Falun Gong was, the history of the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong, and the overall situation at the present time. In particular, they exposed the state of affairs in the period of time ahead of the Beijing Olympic Games, during which the CCP has exploited the Olympics to further implement mass arrests and severe persecution of practitioners in China. Dr Liu Zhengdao presented statistical data and voice recordings which disclosed the CCP's horrific crimes of organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners. One survivor of the persecution spoke to expose the CCP's persecution from an insider's point of view. As the survivor's wife (also a Falun Gong practitioner) re-enacted a type of torture used in CCP prisons, called the "straitjacket", everyone in the audience was moved.
Amnesty International China issues expert, Mr Jin Zimmerman spoke of the report published by two Canadians with regard to the CCP's organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners. He pointed out that the report was supported by solid and detailed forms of evidence, every one of which could be repeated and examined, thus the report was highly credible.
