(Clearwisdom.net) Today I read an article by a fellow practitioner on how we should help our young fellow practitioners. I also have experience and understanding on this subject, which I would like to share with fellow practitioners. I have a teenage daughter. When I was pregnant with her, I had to stop working and stay at home. This gave me a chance to learn Falun Gong. The first few words that my daughter understood when she was about two years old were "Falun Fofa" and "Falun Dafa." Yet because of my poor xinxing, I didn't devote myself to help her study the Fa. I only told her stories about Gods and Buddhas which she liked. She always brings her Falun Dafa lucky charm with her and cites, "Falun Dafa is good."
I remembered when she was eight years old she lived in the school dormitory rooms. One night she had a stomachache. The ceiling fan right above her was on high. She began feeling that the breeze blown by the fan was too cold, and she wanted to turn it off, but she thought that if the fan was turned off, then the other students would be too hot. So she didn't turn it off. Later she held the Falun Dafa lucky charm, citing, "Falun Dafa is good," and then fell asleep. After she woke up, her stomach no longer hurt. When she went back home that weekend, she told me about this, and I was very happy for her. I tried to encourage her by saying, "You are such a wonderful person for thinking of others. That's what Teacher wants us to be, good people who think of others." After hearing what I said to her, she was very happy and said right away that she wanted to be Teacher's disciple. Only then was I reminded that I should lead her to read the Fa. After she read "Zhuan Falun" all by herself once, I began studying the Fa with her, with each one of us taking turns reading each paragraph. She was quite focused when studying the Fa with me. After all, children don't have many notions. When trouble occurs between her and the other students, she can always think of Teacher's words and doesn't treat or look at the matter as do other people.
Once she had a fever as high of 39 degrees C (102.2° F), and the family was very worried. They gave her medicine which didn't seem to work. I asked her whether she wanted to go to the hospital or study the Fa. She said, "I believe in Teacher, I want to listen to Fa." Later that night she was lying in bed listening to Teacher's Lectures in Jinan. She listened to the first three lectures. The next day she told me, "Mom, though I fell asleep last night, my mind was listening. I really was listening. It was wonderful." The next day her temperature became normal. No matter what kind of situation she is in, she can think of Teacher. She can be naughty as well. Whenever she is naughty, I ask her, "Are you like a disciple of Teacher's?" Once I say this, she stops being naughty. After all she is just a child who likes to play. I have to push her to study the Fa. If we continue to study the Fa for several consecutive days, she will study the Fa by herself. If I don't push her that much, she will loosen up and go watch TV. So we really need to keep it in our hearts to help and encourage young disciples to study the Fa. This is our duty.
While she grows up day by day, we share with each other our understandings of God-given culture, for example the legend of Yue Fei. We also talk about other stories of how ancient people handled things, as well as how Kongzi preached. I also tell her the stories about our God-given culture that are published in the weekly newspaper. She likes to listen to them.
I am now asking her to read these things by herself. After we formed a kind of habit, she began reading all the stories published in the "Minghui Weekly" newspaper, the truth-clarifying materials and other sources. We also share our understandings with each other. In my opinion this is the best environment for a child to grow up in.
The only bad thing is that she doesn't do the exercises. But I still have the feeling that Teacher is taking care of her. Since the children are here for the Fa, we should encourage them to study the Fa and to walk the path that was arranged by our Teacher and to be true Dafa practitioners. I ask her to spend more time studying the Fa and to recite Hong Yin.
This is my first time I have shared my experiences with fellow practitioners on the Internet. I hope fellow practitioners will kindly point out whatever does not meet the standard.
