(Clearwisdom.net) (By a Minghui correspondent in Guangdong Province) For ten years, Mr. Ye Weixiong was a pastry chef at the White Swan Hotel in Guangzhou. The Western-style pastry he made was favorably commented on by both Chinese and Western guests.
Mr. Ye began practicing Falun Gong in 1995, and soon afterwards he overcame the gambling habit that he had been addicted to for many years. He follows the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
During the past ten years Falun Gong has been relentlessly persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and Mr. Ye has been fired from his job, arrested four times, and illegally detained for a total of six years. The following are details of what he has had to endure.
On October 31, 1999, Mr. Ye Weixiong was detained for 15 days. On June 20, 2000, he was detained for 15 days.
After being arrested in 1999, he was fired by the hotel for "absenteeism." After his release he found a new job in Xinlizhiwan, Ershadao, Guangzhou, however he lost his job again several months later because of harassment by the neighborhood committee and local police.
After being arrested the second time in November 2000, he was forced to become homeless and destitute. He managed to rent an apartment, but his home was still being monitored, and the entrance was watched around the clock. The surveillance never stopped, regardless of the weather, and each person who passed in and out was interrogated.
At 9:00 p.m. on April 11, 2001, the police stormed the third floor at 64 Yindingtanghou Street behind the Army Police Hospital in the Tianhe District of Guangzhou City and took five Falun Dafa practitioners, including Mr. Ye, to the Xinghua Police Station in the Tianhe District. The police interrogated him that night, and using a thick iron club, severely injured his legs. The practitioners were then sent to the Tianhe Detention Center. Guards in the detention center ordered tuberculosis patients to spit into the mouths of the practitioners. A guard shouted, "Are you Falun Gong never sick?" They also assigned a syphilis patient to sleep next to Mr. Ye. Mr. Ye was sentenced to three years in Sihui Prison in Guangdong Province.
When Mr. Ye was arrested in 2001, the police took about 7000 yuan in cash and his laptop and did not give him a receipt. When he was later detained in the Tianhe Detention Center, he told his family about this and asked them to go to the police station and retrieve the money and his laptop. When his family went to the police station and inquired about his things, the police denied everything and returned nothing.
After being released, Mr. Ye was often harassed by the neighborhood committee and the local police. His family was very nervous and upset with him. In order to avoid further trouble, Mr. Ye went out of town to work from 2005 to 2009.
Whenever the police searched his home, they took all his expensive items, including computers, printers, cell phones etc. One day, when agents from the 610 Office searched his home, a bag of jewels his sister wore when she got married and 2000 yuan in cash were taken. His family complained to the relevant authorities, but the complaints were never followed up.
On the morning of July 18, 2009, Mr. Ye was having breakfast with his family in a restaurant in Guangzhou City, when a group of police suddenly rushed into the restaurant and arrested him. His family was also taken to the police station to answer questions, and his home was later searched. The police took his computer, printer, cell phone, etc. Mr. Ye is being currently being detained in the Second Team of the Guangzhou Third Forced Labor Camp.
