(Clearwisdom.net) Divine Performing Arts (DPA) International company just finished eight shows in Taipei, and moved on to Taichung on March 4, 2009. The Taichung City Culture Bureau Chief, Mr. Chen Zhisheng, was interviewed after the show. He said, "I think Divine Performing Arts has inherited the rich Chinese culture, one that goes back thousands of years. As promoters of culture who also shoulder the task of carrying on our traditions, we greatly admire DPA's spirit, and that they are passing on our Chinese culture."
Enlightening People's Hearts with the Power of Life
Mr. Chen remarked on how the DPA program's main theme is broadly and profoundly cultural, noting that every part of the show is soaked with cultural information, and each dancer has a deep understanding of Chinese Culture. "They live overseas, but keep our cultural traditions, spreading our heritage around the world through their performances--this is so wonderful!" He added, "I will come and learn from DPA's show every year when they tour Taiwan."
Mr. Chen said, "Speaking from a cultural point of view, Divine Performing Arts is sharing the depth of the Chinese cultural heritage. By showing the inner strength of the heroes, their sacrifices and struggles, it moves the heart and stimulates the mind. This is the part that moved me the most. One person is so tiny, like a drop in the ocean. But, when those who hold true to their convictions in the face of adversity persist, they become heroes. As artists, we can portray their struggle, story, and significance."
DPA Combines the Divine and Beauty Perfectly
Mr. Chen added, "Culture depends on persistence, strong will, and sincerity to endure. I think promoting culture goes hand in hand with maintaining the morality of society. Therefore, one must cultivate from the inside out. Because the energy emerging from the inner being contains the life's forms, I was inspired to write theses four Chinese characters: Shen Hu Miao Yun (meaning Divine with beautiful grace). There are silent, but beautiful rhythms that explain the inner strength of life, like the ebb and flow of the tide, whose beauty and depth can only be depicted through the divinity of truly inspired music. Divine Performing Arts is the perfect combination of divine spirit and beautiful rhythms."
Mr. Chen emphasized, "Art can inspire individuals, and influence social morality."
New Spotlight in Chinese Society
Lin Chialong, former Government Information Secretary and current Director of the Taichung Development Association, attended the Divine Performing Arts 2009 World Tour performance on March 4th with his wife.
Mr. Lin said that he understood DPA's message very well. "Such a performance certainly creates another voice in the Chinese community. DPA has infused history into dance and music. The performance level was very high." His wife, Liao Wanru, is President of the International Orchid Council's Taichung sector. It was her second time to see Divine Performing Arts with her husband. She praised DPA's use of art to exemplify kindness toward mankind.
Mr. Lin once ran for mayor of Taichung. Even nowadays, he said that he and his wife have been continuously paying attention to persecuted groups. "Many Westerners don't believe that such a persecution [of Falun Gong] can occur," she said. Then Mr. Lin added, "But if you understand the nature of the Chinese [Communist] regime, you can believe it."
Mrs. Liao said that she loved every performance. "The quality was high. When the drums came out [referring to the opening performance], I was astounded. It was creative."
Mr. Lin liked Dance of the Yi. He said that the dance and the costumes were beautiful.
"The choreography was extraordinary. The colors were gorgeous and extremely beautiful.
Deputy County Commissioner: Worthy of Widespread Promotion
Mr. Zhang Zhuangji is the Taichung County Deputy Commissioner. He said, "I think the most beautiful dance is Dance of the Yi. The costumes are so pretty, and the Yi ethnic life was depicted so well. The scenic design and backdrop are very dynamic, plus the dances and solos are all of a high caliber. I want to give Divine Performing Arts the highest praise."
Mr. Zhang added, "I have led dance companies to perform in other countries before. I know how much hard work is behind all these beautiful performances. I truly admire such an elegant show. It doesn't matter if a person isn't Chinese, anyone can learn about Chinese culture accurately. Hence, I think Divine Performing Arts is worthy of worldwide promotion on a grand scale."
