Ms. Wang Lanqin from Changqing Oilfield, Gansu Province, died in January
Ms. Wang Lanqin, 67, died on January 20, 2009, after suffering many years of harassment. Her husband is retired from the Changqing Oilfield in Gansu Province.
Ms. Wang Lanqin began practicing Falun Dafa in June 1996. Soon after, she recovered from the sequela of an unsuccessful operation for varicosity in her right calf. Other health issues, such as gallstones, shoulder bursitis, nephritis, and constipation, disappeared.
On July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners. Ms. Wang Lanqin went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Dafa. In December 1999, the Changqing Police Station detained her for more than 30 days and searched her home.
In July 2000, Men Yanjing, Qingcheng County 610 Office Director in Qingyang City, Gansu Province, and four other officers broke into Ms. Wang Lanqin's home. They seized her Falun Dafa books and tapes, illegally arrested her, and detained her for a month.
In January 2005, Ms. Wang was arrested for distributing Falun Dafa fliers. Zhang Xiaoping, an officer from the Changqing Secondary Oil Factory Police Office, conducted the arrest. Later, she was transferred to the Changqing Transportation Division Police Station. Officers Bai Jie and Luo Chaixia (female) searched Ms. Wang's home, seizing her Falun Dafa books, tapes, tape recorders, and camera. Ms. Wang was detained for half a year and 2,000 yuan was extorted from her.
At around 9 p.m. on June 20, 2007, Officers Li Xiaoning and Zheng Caihong from the Qingcheng County Police Station, Officer Liu (given name unknown) from the Changqing City Police Department, and Officers Ming Liang and Wang (given name unknown) searched her home, seized Falun Dafa books, a portrait of Teacher Li, tapes, a recorder, colored pens, plastic bags, envelopes, and 1,000 yuan in cash. Ms. Wang was instructed to sign and fingerprint a bail warrant.
Due to the ongoing persecution and relentless harassment, Ms. Wang Lanqin was unable practice Falun Dafa consistently. Since February 2004, she suffered from abnormal bleeding, lumbago, abdominal pain, frequent urination and incontinence, and whole body fatigue. She had to use the bathroom every 20 minutes or half hour. In 2008, as a tumor in her abdomen grew larger, Ms. Wang became more and more emaciated, ultimately becoming completely dependent on others. At 10 a.m. on January 20, 2009, Ms. Wang died.
