Since The Epoch Times published the editorial Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party in 2004, the tide of quitting CCP has grown exponentially. Especially in 2008, after a series of disasters occurred in various parts of China, more and more people were able to see the CCP's evil nature and decided to quit CCP. The number of people quitting the CCP, Communist Youth League and Communist Young Pioneers reached a total of 51 million. The people who gathered on Human Rights Square called for more people to quit the CCP since heaven will destroy the CCP and quitting the CCP will ensure a safe future.
Two students of a French high school passed by the plaza. They were very happy as they are doing a homework report entitled "China: From 1949 to 2009." They obtained the Chinese and French versions of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and the leaflets about Falun Gong, as well as the investigation report exposing the CCP's organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners. They said they would use these materials as their main source for completing their homework, and their report would be read out and exhibited in their class and even the other classes of the same grade
The poster boards introducing Nine Commentaries on Communist Party were also displayed on Human Rights Square. Many people signed on the petitions to support the movement of quitting the CCP. Some tourists from China took copies of the Nine Commentaries. Some students from China and Chinese people from Paris received the material as well.
