(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Chen Naiye was from Shanwei City, Guangdong Province. His whole family took up the practice of Falun Gong in 1997 and benefited tremendously. Mr. Chen used to have severe arthritis and migraines prior to cultivation; his wife suffered from heart problems, slipped disc, and other illnesses; his son had a tumor. Even though they spent a lot of money, they couldn't find anything that helped. Their health gradually improved after they began cultivation. The whole family lived happily.
The peace and happiness in the Chen family disappeared once the Communist regime commenced the persecution in July 1999. The local 610 Office agents and regime personnel often went to harass them and ransack their home. They were occasionally nabbed and taken to brainwashing centers and pressured to write statements denouncing Falun Gong.
Mr. Chen was once again seized on March 19, 2002, when he was distributing truth-clarification materials. He was taken to the Shanwei Detention Center and subjected to brutal tortures. His chest became very swollen after numerous beatings. On July 19, 2002 he was taken to the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp. Because he refused to be "reformed," the camp guards tortured him savagely, and he lost consciousness. The guards stuffed him into a freezer and prepared to cremate him. He regained consciousness and shouted aloud for help. To shirk responsibility, the guards made up lies and ordered his family to pick him up. When his family finally took him home on October 12, 2002, he was wrapped in gauze and barely alive. He gradually regained his ability to talk and move his hands and feet with his family's tender care. However, the brutal torture had left him unable to remain completely clear-headed, and he was unable to take care of himself.
While Mr. Chen was recovering at home, local 610 Office agents and regime personnel kept him under surveillance. They frequently went to his home to harass him. In 2006 they once again ransacked his home and took away Dafa books and truth-clarification materials. He couldn't normally study the Fa and practice the Falun Gong exercises. His family made several requests to the 610 Office to have his books returned, but no one listened to them. Chen Naiye died on March 4, 2009, at the age of 63.
