(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 10 provinces. In this report, 12 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 16 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Li Liefeng on the Verge of Death as a Result of Abuse in Detention
Ms. Li Liefeng was an employee of the Xinyu City Bed Linen Factory. In 2006 she was arrested and taken to the Xinjian County Prison. According to people held in the same prison, Ms. Li was allowed to sleep no more than two hours each night. She has become emaciated. Her life is in imminent danger. She lives on sugar and saline infusions.
Prior to this, Ms. Li was sentenced to three years of forced labor for speaking out on behalf of Falun Gong. She was then held at the Jiangxi Province Women's Forced Labor Camp. She was released after serving an extension to her original forced labor term.
2. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Xing Suzhi and Two Other Practitioners Taken into Custody
Ms. Xing Suzhi lives in Xinjia Village, Sibaoshan Town, Zhangdian District, Zibo City. Plainclothes police officers took her and two other practitioners into custody while they were telling others about the persecution. Ms. Xing's whereabouts are unknown.
3. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zou Mingli Held at Brainwashing Center
At around 5:00 p.m. on August 12, 2009, Ms. Zou Mingli was turned in to the police while she was posting self-adhesive signs. Officers from the Hanzhong Street Police Station took her into custody. She is being held at the Etouwan Brainwashing Center in the Qiaokou District, Wuhan City. Her elderly father, who is disabled, has been left at home unattended.
4. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Ms. Han Fengjiao and Ms. Deng Fengming Taken to Forced Labor Camp
On August 2, 2009, when Ms. Han Fengjiao and Ms. Deng Fengming went out to distribute brochures, officers from the Datuopu Town Police Station took them to the detention center affiliated with the Changsha City Police Department. On August 16, Ms. Han was sentenced to two years of forced labor, and Ms. Deng to one year of forced labor. The two practitioners are being held at the Baimalong Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City.
In the first half of 2001, Ms. Han traveled to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. She was taken back to Changsha City before reaching Beijing. She was held at the Baimalong Women's Forced Labor Camp serving an 18-month term. Her term was extended for another 12 months.

5. [Chongqing] Ms. Chen Xianhui Taken into Custody
On the morning of August 25, 2009, Ms. Chen Xianhui, who lives in the Jiangjin District, was taken into custody by Liu Zenghuai, an official of the Jijiang Neighborhood Administration Office, while she was getting off a bus. She was first taken to the Dongcheng Police Station in the Jiangjin District, then taken to the Jiangjin District Domestic Security Division in the afternoon before being brought back to the police station.

6. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Ms. Ding Yufang Taken to Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Ding Yufang, 41, lives in Yangzhai Town, the Zichuan District, Zibo City. On July 16, 2009, she was taken into custody. She was held at the Zibo City Detention Center, where she suffered beatings for a month. She had bruises on both of her arms. She has become emaciated. It has been reported that Ms. Ding was recently sentenced to one year of forced labor by the Zichuan Police Department on August 14 and taken to the Shandong No. 2 Women's Forced Labor Camp.
7. [Dongfeng County, Jilin Province] Ms. Xu Dongping and Ms. Zhang Xiufang Face Trial
On August 28 the Dongfeng County Court is scheduled to hold hearings on Ms. Xu Dongping and Ms. Zhang Xiufang.
On the afternoon of May 28, 2009, Ms. Xu and Ms. Zhang from Dongfeng County were turned in to the police while they were telling others about the persecution in Nadanbo Town, Dongfeng County. Officers from the Shahe Town Police Station took them into custody. The two practitioners have been held at the Dongfeng County Detention Center.

8. [Hailin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Wang Jinlin Taken into Custody; His Udumbara Flower Confiscated
On the morning of August 26, 2009, a group of police officers besieged Mr. Wang Jinlin's home. The officers took into custody the crowd that was watching a blossoming udumbara flower, a flower rarely seen. It has been reported that visitors to Mr. Wang's home have all been released. Mr. Wang remains in custody. The police took possession of his udumbara flower.

Mr. Wen Hongjun has been secretly sentenced to four years of forced labor by the Huanan County Court. On August 18, 2009, he was taken to Qitaihe Prison.
11. [Yanji City, Jilin Province] Ms. Liu Yuxue Taken into Custody
Ms. Lin Yuxue, who lives on Beishan Street in Yanji City, was taken into custody around August 20, 2009. She is being held at the Yanji City Detention Center.

On August 26, officials from the Neijiang City Government, members of the Dongxing District 610 Office, and officers from the Shengli Town Police Station broke into Ms. Lai Zhongping's home. They took her to the Xiejiaba Brainwashing Center by force.

14. [Beijing] Ms. Li Hongbin Sentenced to Two Years of Forced Labor
On July 17, 2009, officers from the Chaoyang Police Department in Beijing took Ms. Li Hongbin to the Chaoyang Detention Center from her home. She has been sentenced to two years of forced labor. On August 25, she was taken to Daxing Women's Forced Labor Camp in Beijing.
15. [Henan Province] Ms. Ma Guizhen Taken to Shibalihe Women's Forced Labor Camp
On the afternoon of August 18, 2009, Ms. Ma Guizhen was turned in to the police. Ms. Ma lives in Xinmi City under the jurisdiction of Zhengzhou City. On the evening of August 25, she was taken to Shibalihe Women's Forced Labor Camp.

16. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Baoxia Taken to Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Liu Baoxia lives in Shengshuiyuan Village, Tiechang Town, Zunhua City under the jurisdiction of Tangshan City. At the end of July 2009, she was transferred from the Zunhua City Detention Center to Kaiping Forced Labor Camp in Tangshan City.

17. [Chenzhou City, Hunan Province] Supplemental Information on Ms. Li Guifeng, Taken into Custody
On the morning of August 20, 2009, Yin Shuiping from the Yongxing 610 Office, Liu Hongchuan from the police department, Ma Jie from the Domestic Security Division, and other officers took Ms. Li Guifeng into custody. Earlier, the same group of police officers tried to arrest her in her home. She managed to escape. This time the police followed her on her way home. They waited until she was in the a quiet section of Binhe Road before stopping her and ordering her to get into their car. Ms. Li refused to cooperate. Several officers carried her into the car. The police then searched her home. Ma Jie pried open all her suitcases. The police confiscated some Falun Gong informational materials. Ms. Li is being held at the Yongxing Detention Center.

18. [Beijing] Ms. Yang Huizhi in Shunyi District Taken into Custody
Ms. Yang Huizhi, 50, lives in Houfengbo Village in the Shunyi District of Beijing. At around 9:00 a.m. on August 25, 2009, officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Shunyi District Police Department, members of the 610 Office, officers from the Fengbo Police Station, and Li Zhijun, director of the village security office, broke into Ms. Yang's home and took her into custody. The police confiscated Falun Dafa books, weekly magazines, and a computer. Ms. Yang tried to tell the officers the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong. They refused to listen and took her to the police station.
19. [Miyi County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yang Xingchun Remains in Custody at Wuding Detention Center in Yunnan Province
On July 20, 2009, Ms. Yang Xingchun was turned in to the police while she was distributing brochures about Falun Gong in the Wuding area of Yunnan Province. She has been held at the Wuding Detention Center facing further persecution.

24. [Yanji City, Jilin Province] Yanji City Procuratorate to Prosecute Ms. Jin Zhenjin
Ms. Jin Zhenjin, 61, lives in the Xindi Residential Community in Yanji City. On August 21, 2009, six officers from the Yanji City Domestic Security Division took her from home. The police also confiscated a computer, a printer, Falun Dafa books and other personal belongings.
Ms. Jin was taken to the Yanji City Detention Center before being transferred to the Xing'an Detention Center in Yanji City. Her daughter in Korea has written letters to the domestic security police asking them not to participate in the persecution. She also tried to call them several times but the officers did not pick up the phone.
On August 26, Ms. Jin's husband received a notice, without an official seal, stating that she had been taken to the Yanji City Detention Center. Her case is now to be prosecuted by the Procuratorate and is no longer in the jurisdiction of the police. Her family has not been able to see her.
25. [Fengcheng City, Liaoning Province] Additional Information on Ms. Sun Yuqin and Li Jie in Custody
Ms. Sun Yuqin and Li Jie live in the Lanqi area in Fengcheng City. On August 17, 2009, they were taken to the Hongqi Police Station by Ju Chenbo, Wang Guojun, and other officers in Hemu Village, Hongqi Town, Fengcheng City. The two practitioners were transferred to the Baifang Detention Center the same day. When their families went to visit them, the detention center officials presented a written notice from the Lanqi Town Police Station, stating that said they would not be allowed to meet the practitioners.

26. [Sichuan Province] Unlawful Sentencing of Ms. Li Yingqiong and Ms. Zuo Yonghong Sustained by Liangshan Prefecture Court
Ms. Li Yingqiong and Ms. Zuo Yonghong were each sentenced to seven years in prison by the Xichang City Court in April 2009. Ms. Li and Ms. Zuo appealed their cases. On July 1, the Liangshan Prefecture Intermediate Court sustained the original sentencing without a hearing, ignoring "errors in applicable law" and other legal issues in the first hearing.

27. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Suyun Taken into Custody; Her Home Searched
On the morning of August 25, 2009, Ms. Liu Suyun was taken into custody at the No. 17 High School. Officers from the Qiaoxi District Police Department then searched her home without anyone at home. The police confiscated a printer and other personal belongings. Ms. Liu's whereabouts are unknown.

28. [Shiyan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Chen Xiaoling Taken into Custody
Ms. Chen Xiaoling is an employee at the Interior Decorating Company affiliated with the Dongfeng Company in Shiyan City. On August 22, she was taken into police custody. The police confiscated a computer and a printer form her home. Her family has not been permitted to visit her.
29. [Jilin Province] Five Practitioners Taken into Custody by Nanhui County Domestic Security Division
At around 3:00 p.m. on August 25, 2009, officers from the Nanhui County Domestic Security Division took into custody Ms. Liu Fengyan, who was looking after her grandson. The officers found several copies of Minghui Weekly magazines. They took this as "evidence" and placed Ms. Liu in detention for 30 days on criminal charges. According to police insiders, five practitioners were taken into custody on August 25. Details are to be further verified.

30. [Tianjin] Ms. Wu Aihua Remain in Custody
Ms. Wu Aihua lives in the Tanggu area in Tianjin. On July 23, 2009, she was taken to the Zhaojiadi Detention Center. She has been held in custody for over a month.
31. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Xiuwen and Her Sister, Ms. Wang Xiuqin, Taken into Custody
On the morning of August 24, 2009, Ms. Wang Xiuwen and her sister, Ms. Wang Xiuqin, were taken into custody at the Xige Town Farm Market by officers from the Xige Police Station. The officers also searched their home. The two practitioners are being held at the Fengnan District Detention Center.

Ms. Wei Maoxia lives in Nanguan Division, Yanzhou City. At around 5:00 p.m. on August 26, 2009, Ms. Wei, her son Mr. Zhang Chao, and her daughter-in-law Ms. Jiang Guangyan were taken into custody by officers from the Yanzhou City Police Department.
33. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Wang Sanxiu Taken into Custody
On August 5, 2009, Ms. Wang Sanxiu, who works at the Nanjing Geology and Mining Research Institute, was taken into police custody. The police also confiscated a computer. Ms. Wang is being held at a detention center.
34. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Geng Yufeng Remains in Detention Center
Ms. Geng Yufeng from Dalian City remains in custody at a detention center. Officers from the Zhongshan District Domestic Security Division have been trying to escalate the persecution. Her case is being processed by the Zhongshan District Procuratorate.
35. [Chongqing] Ms. Yang Hongying and Ms. Li Guilan Remain in Custody
On the evening of August 18, 2009, nine practitioners in the Jialing Factory in Chongqing were taken into custody by the Shapingba state security officers and residential officers from the Zhanjiaxi Police Station. Six practitioners have been sentenced to forced labor, two of whom have returned home to serve their terms outside the labor camp. Three other practitioners--Ms. Yang Hongying, Ms. Liu Hefang, and Ms. Li Guilan,who is from the Jiangjin area--remain in custody at the Baihelin Detention Center.
