(Clearwisdom.net) On November 1, a forum entitled "Chinese Human Rights and Political Issues" was held on the campus of the University of South Carolina (USC) Aiken. The fact that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) harvests organs from living Falun Gong practitioners was exposed at the forum.
According to Amnesty International at USC Aiken, the number of attendees of the forum exceeded expectations and was larger than any previous activities held by Amnesty at USC. The organizers had to move the forum to a larger hall since the original venue could not hold everyone.
Three people gave talks. The first was Professor Xie Tian from the business school of USC Aiken. Prof. Xie briefly introduced Falun Gong to the audience. Then he talked about the persecution of Falun Gong in China, especially the organ harvesting. He showed data and other indirect evidence of organ harvesting. He then called upon attendees to write to American government officials, asking them to help stop the human rights violations in China.
Prof. David Dillard-Wright, a philosophy professor at USC Aiken and the second speaker, condemned the CCP's behavior. He pointed out that many organizations, including doctors, are involved in the illegal organ trade and transplants. He pointed out that many hospitals make large profits from illegal organ trading. He called upon people to think about the ethical issues about organ harvesting and transplants.
Prof. Thomas Wood, a political science professor, told the audience that there are ninety thousand human rights protests in China every year. He said the grass-roots power is growing in China now, and Chinese people refuse to be victims of tyrannical power. He said in the internet era, Chinese people breaking through the information blockade and have formed many non-governmental organizations outside of the CCP.
Prof. Wood reminded the audience that China is still a police state and tortures that have been applied to Falun Gong practitioners are in common use. He pointed out that the government official corruption causes China to lose 30f its GDP every year.
After the forum, two professors from USC Aiken expressed interest in learning Falun Gong and setting up a meditation group on campus. Some students thanked the organizers and expressed that they learned many things from the forum.
